It would be interesting to see what the percentage of people here with an inner monologue is.

Monologue? So you guys only have one voice in your head?
You win the internet today.
I'm reminded of a comedy skill....
It's not the voices so much, but the constant running back and forth and slamming doors...and now they a puppy.
Or something similar. Lol.
Foook. I've had an inner dialogue my whole life, almost to the point it drives me crazy. Between talking to God, talking to myself, and just discussing my complete disbelief at the sh!t I see going on, I can have 20,000 words of dialogue and never say a word to another human being.

I have an inner dialog, and I thought everyone else did. Apparently not.
This is directly tied to intelligence. We always assumed everyone did. Because that's how "thinking" works.
Now try to imagine groups of people who don't think things through. And it'll start to make sense.
Link?
Can't find any poll.

u/CatsFive is there a better way to set this up?
I have an inner monologue
I have an inner monologue and I also think with visual imagery.
So glad we're finally talking about this here! I've been wondering about, and reading a lot about aphantasia.
and Yes, I've Always had an inner monologue, and assumed others had at least something similar.
nope.
it's SO bizarre.
How is an inner monologue different from just plain thinking? For example, I was going about my bedtime routine this evening and I was thinking to myself "I need to vacuum tomorrow." Is that an inner monologue?
Nobody seems to have read the instructions….
Anyhow, not having an internal monologue means the thoughts are never verbalized in the thinker’s head.

I have an inner dialog, mostly non-stop when I'm awake. I don't understand people who DON'T have an inner dialog; I thought everyone did until now.
Not only do I have an inner monologue, I find it way more interesting than any conversations that I have with my friends and family. The only upside with conversations is that I have to follow through to the conclusion, my inner monologue usually pick a new subject when the conclusion seem inevitable.
Not sure if this is a good thing, it’s just what it is.
I tend to visualize for the very complex and monologue for the simply difficult. If it is quite difficult, then I will often give it to my subconscious to churn on while I think about something else or even sleep. But I do tend to think too much. That is why I do audio books rather than reading. They keep me moving forward.
This is just an endless do-loop.

My inner monologue is refusing to allow me to click on any links…

Op, what are the final results?
Will tally today, but from what I saw it did line up with my expectations.
Not only did I not know that a lot of people have NO inner dialog, I also didn't know that some people are incapable of forming visual ideas. I don't understand how these people go through life.
By being programmed and reacting to actions taken by the agents of Good and Evil against that programming.
It’s why the (false) media(tors) is such a massive opponent in this war.

I have an inner monologue regularly. I also have external monologues when solving complex problems. I also think in visual imagery, however I am strongly an auditory learner.
I'll sell you that personal data for 20 XRP.
The “poll” aspect isn’t working at all. Every reply should be under one of the three choices, and there should be more upvotes to indicate poll response than actual replies.
Why divert discussion into four separate posts? Your 'poll' concept was retarded.
When there were no comments, I hoped
would be good enough. Then the first 4 replies were to the post and the three options got pushed to the bottom, so I added the direct links to the comments, and people continued to reply to the post instead of the comments.
Dunno what to tell you. There’s no “poll” template here, I didn’t want to send people off-site, this can be a workable option that people use in text message threads. and you’re not providing a better option, so unless you want to provide one or apologize, thanks for the name and I’ll make you a copy so we can happily wear it together.
Here's a workable option: just have people discuss it in one post, and you can tally the responses yourself if you care so much. You'll only have to sort though a couple dozen commenters at best anyway, it's not a super active board. Which, again, makes splitting the discussion a retarded idea from the onset.
Yes, that’s what I’d already settled on as the obvious inevitable solution when the self-sorting didn’t work.
I don’t think expecting people here to read and comprehend is retarded. I did not expect the links to work, as noted, they were an edited attempt at damage control. Thank you once again for your polite and humble guidance.
Be happy anyone is even engaging in your post at all, dude. Disregarding your 'rules' and having s conversation is better than if it were ignored.
I do not have an inner monologue.
I do not have an inner monologue and have aphantasia.
