We are getting closer everyday to a SHTF moment and my place in the burbs just doesn't seem secure enough.
Anyone with rural property have any ideas for generating a living with 30 or so acres?

You should find a failing farm. Ask the farmer for half his land. And help him build it back up. You give him the finances he needs. He gives you all the knowledge he has. Sounds like a win win.

A friend of mine married a girl he found on only-farmers. It's a dating website for country girls.
She is inheriting a farm.
The tip is to find a farmer whose kids don't want to take over operating the farm and/or marry into a farm.
I have no idea, but I'm guessing there's a website for farms for sale. Maybe call a broker. They may have more intimate knowledge about the farmer's personal situation.
It was a spur of the moment idea.

RV/boat/toy storage.
Moonshine.
Crops.
Compost manufacture and sales.
4x4 recreation leasing.
Turn it into farmland and have the government pay you not to grow anything. Sadly, this is a thing. Alternatively, turn it into a tree farm and have the government pay you annually not to cut them down. This is also a thing.
Raise livestock.

I admire and share your principles.
Depending on the type of acreage you buy, you can grow hay(ag exemption) raise livestock (ag exemption), conserve wildlife (wildlife exemption). You can also grow vegetables and/or keep bees and receive exemptions for those. IMO - raising hay requires the least amount of work (it’s still work) and you get money for selling they hay. PS, cows are really pricey right now.

Ag-tourism is a thing too. Have a small working farm and host guests to visit and help work on the farm. It’s a big thing here in southern WI especially if near a dem-hellhole major city. Also depends where you are but hemp/majiuana growers are a new thing too Also corn mazes in fall with hayrack rides or Xmas tree farm
Raise pheasant or quail to sell in major cities is a thing too selling to fine dining restaurants if theyre some near you
Daughter went and volunteered on an Organic Farm on Kauai. She brought her own tent slept and for free. Learned to plant, harvest, cook - it was age, secure and owned by a vet nice couple. You can google concept

Supplement that endeavor or any garden with bee hives. Good for the garden, good for the bees, plus you get all that glorious golden honey to preserve.
I hardly saw bees in the city..now living rural they are everywhere I plant flowers for them and leave clover in the yard

I maintain several long established garden spots and rows. Well, I should say the bees maintain them! I never use any pesticide or miracle grow or any kinda junk like that. Bees pollinate and wasps kill the garden pests. I just leave them alone and they usually leave me alone. Seems like I'll take a sting about every 2-3 yrs and it's usually not even garden area related. E.g. wasp flies out when I go to check how much LP is left in the tank or something lol.
Dead fish from my pond fertilizes my garden..bee balm flowers feed the bees..I also plant hundreds of sunflowers each year

A lot of people did that already! Acreage outside major cities here is 80k an acre. Less if you go further out.

Just 80K? Acres near me are way more, and I'm not near a major city.

My cousin has about 40 (or was it 70) acres. He leases the land to a local cattle farmer for the cattle to graze. As far as I know, he just has to keep his fences up to snuff and nothing else (and perhaps the cattle farmer is responsible for that, who knows). I'll be visiting his area next week - if I run into him I'll try to remember to ask.
Rover for cattle, I like it.
Difficulty may come in finding something for sale. Nothing on market at all where we are. We’ve decided to put our place up for sale and take advantage of higher selling prices.
