"This is an ideal political outcome and necessary for eliminating the Uniparty Left’s anti-MAGA narrative on abortion being a turnout issue.
Donald Trump has already gotten Roe v Wade overturned. It’s a state issue now.
Win the issue in your states. Don’t demand Trump - the President of all Americans - express absolute purity on every issue all the time. If you want everyone to come to the morally necessary conclusion, YOU fight for it. They don’t listen to Trump in the first place.
At some point, you have to understand that all of anti-Trump will argue against him no matter what his position is. The Uniparty Left argues that he’s terrible and the Uniparty Right argues that he does the right thing, but in the wrong ways or not hard enough.
Trump is using the Controlled Opposition dynamic against itself. The Uniparty Right and the Uniparty Left, by both arguing that Trump is wrong in this way, are actually branding Trump as “the only acceptable choice” for everyone who isn’t Trump deranged.
It’s not Trump’s responsibility to “say the thing” and be your moral leader. That’s YOUR responsibility."
“Conservatives” are trying to use strict abortion proposals to keep the Uniparty alive and the “Elites” gravy train rolling. They know actually resolving the issue will put a huge dent in their fundraising. Sadly, abortion is just a tool for the “Elites” from both parties, and like so many issues, they have no desire to solve it.
Just look at the RINO proposing the Federal Government takeover of what is a states rights issue, none other than Lindsey Graham. That should tell us all we need to know. Graham does not care about abortion, he cares about keeping the Uniparty in power.
It's a bit more complex than that. Morality matters as does consistency within our legal system. Murder is illegal and yet abortion gets carved out as an exception because for some reason the fetus is less ... valuable, human, something? People do need to grapple with it and debate it. And they also need to listen to the chicks who are getting knocked up and showing up at the clinic for pills or scrape-and-vacuum therapy. One of the biggest themes is that they want to give their kids a good life, but feel they can't, so they won't start the process. Not enough money. No decent job. The man's a POS who'd be a terrible father. We can't just ignore all of that. That's how we end up with rampant single motherhood, moms marrying Uncle Sam and his welfare checks, and out of control crime among young, impoverished males with no father figures. Your morality can result in situations that get other people killed.
It's up to We the People to grapple with that. We have to sort that mess out and try and find solutions that actually work. We define our own culture. We set our own norms. We're the ones who have to do the work of supporting those mothers and babies.
DJT is absolutely right to take this position as a politician. Like a lot of things in our society, government isn't the answer. We the People are. We're the ones who have to do the work of living our values.
The core problem facing Americans is we have been governed by people who don’t have our best interest at heart. All of their manufactured and intentionally unresolved issues have a cascade effect on society. Many of them create the reasons (or excuses) for seeking abortion.
Lack of economic opportunity, poor public education system, endless wars, welfare policies that undermine the nuclear family, intentional illegal immigration, the list goes on.
If these problems are resolved the reasons (or excuses) for abortion are greatly reduced and quite possibly, over time, abortion becomes nearly nonexistent.
Just in case you needed any confirmation of why both sides hate this man equally, here is a great example.
His position is totally in line with opinion polls going back for decades in support of the two exceptions.
His position is totally consistent with the SCOTUS, that this is a 10th amendment-deferred power and it is up to the individual states to regulate, not the federal government.
But because he won't take an all-or-nothing position imposing one moral extreme or the other, and instead supports actual democratic processes and representative government, they both hate him.
My wife and her friend, two very prolife ladies, were going off on Trump, almost to the point of who else to vote for. I had left my phone at home on our way to a doctor's appt for her. Had to stop them in their tracks. First, he stopped Roe v Wade! Then he's taking it out of the Fed's hands and putting it in the states where it belongs. Now it's up to us to stop it. Got home and found this post! You guys have said the rest. Just what I was saying you all confirmed it.
He is returning power to the people. We cannot keep demanding that Washington keep assuming power that should reside in state and local governments, which are closer to the people. Marriage, schools, zoning, ponds on farms, and the list goes on endlessly.
Trump was brilliant in his response - kick it back to the states and let voters decide. The left desperately wanted him to come out in favor of a national ban. That way they could reframe the election to be about MuH bOrSHunZ instead of about inflation and the border.

He did the right thing. It is now in the hands of the States. Thanks for this post.

You just hit the nail on the head! Remove the issue of abortion from the uniparty altogether.

You make a lot of valid points.

Time for you to get a job as a Political Analyst . Well said.
Conservatives are piss poor at moderation just like the Liberals are.
Radical SUPREMACISTs always are

It's not a moral extreme to say you can't murder your baby for any reason.

Trump supporters will still vote Trump. Fence sitters will now lean Trump.
