So these supranational organizations are forcing nations to engage in behavior to the detriment of the nation. I have a feeling the Hungarian people will outlive the EU as an organization.
How far can the EU really push? Hungary and Ukraine share an 85 mile long border along the Tiszia River valley. But more than that the western most Oblast in Ukraine is what has historically been called Transcarpathia, which contains many Hungarian speakers. This area was ceded to Ukraine by Czechoslovakia and Hungary after WW2. It is another cobbled together piece of a ficticious nation.
So is the EU gonna push a Ukraine border country into the BRICS sphere? I doubt they will go that far. So Essentiually Orban has the EU by the short hairs. He has all the leverage. The EUs efforts are weak sauce and the world players all know it.
Weird how these cobbled together nations cause so much trouble. Pakistan, that other one in the Middle East that will remain nameless, now Ukraine. As colonial nations left these client states behind for constant skull duggery and mayhem.
Also the areas of Ukraine that border Russia like Donbass, are ethnically Russians. The borders were just carved up. Similar to another cobbled together nation Iraq. 3 different ethnic groups that needed a strong man to rule. Remove the strong man and you destabilize the region. Enter Saddam.
Or I so called leaders are either dumb, or this is on purpose.
365 millions euros a year is still cheaper than letting invaders in, taking all kinds of welfare, free housing / free hotels, wrecking the economy, looting all the stores, raping their girls and women, causing murders, etc.
Heck paying $365 million dollars a year to keep illegals from entering would save the US so much money compared to the billions we subsidize to let them in and pay them monthly to live in hotels. I'd take that deal any day in comparison to what we have!

All in all, those $365M would cover less than 100 illegals, housing, food and all the surrounding costs related to it. During the 2015 peak when borders were open, 1.8M illegals came to EU as a whole. EUs total population is roughly 500M and Hungary has almost 10M people, a ratio of 50:1.
If EU got what they wanted, i.e distributed illegal immigration, while returning to the 2015 numbers. That means 36 000 illegals to Hungary alone every year. The fines they got is a fart in the ocean compared to the cost of all those illegals.
