I used to agree, but "no fat shaming" only works in a society that is trying to remain slim and fit.
The odd person being fat didn't ever bother anyone, because it is assumed that they have problems they're dealing with or medical issues that make it difficult to get and keep weight off (a defective ankle or knee or a massive back injury for example.)
Once they started trying the "healthy at every size" BS, that was done. That's just justifying people getting fat and praising them for doing so. That's not good for anyone.
Yes, same. It hit me that trying to give severity tiers to sins was like trying to say these are really ok, they aren't so bad cuz you didn't commit THIS horrible sin. Kinda sucking you in to thinking your transgression wasn't really that bad. They're ALL bad equally lol. Yeah I struggle with this 🙈
Since when is any lie a sin? Not all lies are bearing false witness AGAINST someone, you know. If you bear false witness to save someone's life & it is not against anyone else it is no sin.
There are all kinds of lies. I would classify that in the same category as killing someone to save a life or in war. I don't think God counts that but if you think about it, dying means you go to God, so maybe you shouldnt - idk
Personally, I don't like to lie & advise everyone not to in most situations but IDK how you count it as a sin. Show me some religious text that says lying is evil
Joshua 2:1And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot's house, named Rahab, and lodged there. 2And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country. 3And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country. 4And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were: 5And it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them. 6But she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof. 7And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.
Rahab the prostitute is an example of someone that told a lie, which God called righteous. Also see James 2:25: "Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?"
John 19:11 Jesus answered, "Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin."
There's definitely ones worse than others but sin in and of itself is in one category, to be technical about it.
Also Pride! Now they brag about their Pride.
Exactly. Gluttony is celebrated as HAES (Health at every size). Lust is celebrated as hypergamy. Almost all the deadly sins have been Pedestalized.
And they say no fat shaming.

True story, though all sin is deadly and eternally fatal and judgment worthy.
I've read the same - all sin is sin and equal in eyes of God. A lie is as much a sin as murder.
This is one I've always struggled with!

So true. To think otherwise is to think you know better than God.

Bearing false witness. Doesn't necessarily mean only against another person. At least, not how I read it. Lying is telling a falsehood.

I love these Thomas Sowell quote posts. The man has such logical clarity. He is akin to humanity's Spock.
Often envy is just a specific manifestation of pride. We see what others have and say, "Why does he get that, aren't I just as deserving of that"?
The new “inside out” movie has a new character; Envy…
Envy AKA "Diversity"
envy of the white race
envy of the straight white man
envy of the mentally stable
Thats some heavy hitting there.
Barack Obama: "I DID THAT!"
Could say the same about pride, lust, fornication, gluttony, the love of money, and more too
