At 22 or 23 I was not able to get a business loan, having good credit.
The most I could get was a $5,000 line of credit at 20% interest.
An 18 year old can take out a 10k business loan with a solid business plan. Most 18 year olds don’t have solid plans.
A lot of them don’t have solid college plans either, yet here we are.
They should not loan money for women's studies and other worthless degrees.
Only loan what the job can pay off.
Are they adults, or children? They have the God-Given Right to be stupid. In many cases, these "liberal" college kids tend to take out $100+k loans, while demanding everyone do everything for them. And their choice of degree, typically reflects their lack of intelligence, ambition and effort.
A $100+k student loan for STEM, isn't comparable to a "Liberal Arts" degree. If you are stupid enough to take out that loan for "victimhood studies", or "stage lighting", or "the music of Taylor Swift"; you are stupid enough to sue the taxpayer for not funding your idiocy.
Unfortunately, Colleges USED to weed out the unwise, from the industrious. We are getting Engineering students that cannot think on their own, naïveté is expected, lack of common sense is not.
Joe Biden did this. He make it so student loans can not be discharged with bankruptcy like other loans. It creates an incentive for predatory lenders to give loans to dumb kids
This changed in November of 2022. Students can live "free" for a degree at taxpayer expense, then file Chapter 7 or 13 Bankruptcy, and we eat the bill.

A student loan goes to the institution so the student can't spend it on drugs and hookers.
A business loan goes to the company that can theoretically spend it on drugs and hookers.
So more than a few 18 year olds take the $100k that goes to the institutions and max out multiple credit cards for booze and hookers…🤷♂️
Ding ding ding. Because once the student loan is on file pre approved cards show up by the dozens.
Considering the degrees those institutions are cranking out these days, drugs and hookers might be the better option.

The entire student loan industry has always been a scam, and it needs to be shut down. The schools, banks, and politicians who benefited from it by defrauding students into using it need to be penalized and forced to pay for the damages.
If you want to do something useful, take a page from other countries. The government will pay for your higher education, but you owe 10 years of public service work at low paying jobs. Otherwise, you have to pay back the entire cost with interest and a penalty to cover the lost opportunity to others. Some suggest military service. I have no problem with this either.
Student loans were a scam from the beginning, and it's time we admit that. We took our most naive citizens, indoctrinated them into a leftist cult and turned them into indentured servants. While the taxpayer shouldn't be on the hook to cover this fraud, my ethics don't allow me to blame the victims either.
Also joe Biden was one of the main people who passed this legislative act making student loans unique in that they could not be discharged with bankruptcy
