Hey all,
My father appears to have contracted pyorrhea. The gums look pale and receding. He’s tried a week of ivermectin and hydroxychloroquin for a brush with a different illness (got over that fast) but his gums and jaw still hurt. Unfortunately he eats sugar like an ant and like many on said drug it’s very hard to get off.
Anyone know best treatment for Pyorrhea? He’s going to see his dentist but for a variety of reasons can’t until next week.
Prayers welcome and encouraged.
I read somewhere that “oil pulling” works wonders. Basically swishing coconut oil around the teeth and gums when you first get up, for about 10 min
It does work wonders. but don't swallow the oil.
Wonderful idea, thanks! We do have a lot of coconut oil
Flossing after each meal. chlorhexidine mouth rinse after flossing. Deep cleaning to remove tarter and bacteria.
I'll look into these, thanks!
I'm a dental professional, you have have to get the Chlorhexidine or similar from the Hygienist. Please take him to get his teeth cleaned because of untreated, he will lose his teeth and extractions are very hard on the elderly not counting the difficulty of wearing dentures.
Brush with baking soda. Rinse with water that has a few drops of methylene blue or lugols iodine in it.
Water pick after every meal.
IF in pain, use clove oil on the tooth, and take aspirin or ibuprofen. GO TO THE DENTIST ASAP and get a deep clean.
But really, stopping sugar and refined carbs is fundamental. Replace with meat, fat and salt as much as possible. Cutting all carbs will bring the inflammation down in about two days, the blood sugar had to drop - it's not about clean teeth only - also use the yellow listerine mouth-wash (multiple ingredients that combat germs) four times a day. So, in the morning, after meals and before bed. A Hyrdogen Peroxide session can help with pain too, but use a baking-soda toothpaste right after, because it is acidic, and can make holes in one's teeth if one leaves it there.
I know cutting carbs is hard, so the trick is to add small snacks of bacon-bits, pork-rinds or even a table-spoon of butter amongst other carniverous snacks. Also bone-broth (Boil whole chicken - add salt and maybe oregano & some dill; or turmeric, butter & black pepper & garlic ) is excellent for toothache - no chewing and very satisfactory. If in dire pain, - drink the broth and maybe suck on some meat
My MIL stopped eating all-together when she had a toothache, but I don't think that's correct. The pain gets worse when one is starving.
Also, in my travels, I found that blue cheese is very good. I believe it is the penicillin in the blue stuff. And yes, the point is to savor it. However, one will not find any proof of the effectiveness in the literature, because the academics say that that particular penicillin is so ubiquitous that the bugs 'out there' are immune to it. However, I found that adding blue cheese to the mix of remedies seems to work for me. So there's that.
Sometimes I use iodine such as lugols iodine / potassium iodide dropped in small amounts over a tooth or part of a gum which is giving me issues due to infection.
It can stain your mouth and tastes pretty strong and you don't want to swallow more than a drop or two really, but it arrests any toothache for me.
Chlorine Dioxide Solution (CDS) should work.
I just started to use this mouthwash https://p2probioticpower.com/mouthwash-toothbrush-retainer-rinse-description/ It's a novel idea. There's a video you can watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxhFI0K8pmA&t=89s I put about 1/4 tsp of it in 1 tsp of water and swoosh for 30 sec.
Can't vouch for it one way or the other but some ideas to consider from Ellie Phillips.

lugol iodine 5%, 10 drops in 20 ml of water, swich in mouth for 1 minute then spit, 2 times/day: kills bacteria responsible for infection and iodine is gum friendly. It will slightly sting but not more than mouthwash. As for the sugar addiction, some sugar substitute are very good at starving the bad oral bacteria that cause gingivitis/pyorrhea. These are xylitol and erythritol, which is even better. the bacteria eat them up, fooled into thinking its food but cannot metabolize it. I am not a doctor so plz apply due diligence. Best of luck.
Sugar MUST be eliminated. Any viable protocol will be ineffective if he continues to consume sugar.
AKA periodontitis
This guy usually gives good advice.

I’ve heard of oil pulling, iodine, and even swishing and swallowing wheatgrass powder to supply nutrients.

I’d also suggest looking into MMS for dental, protocol J:

After seeing a dentist and possibly a course of antibiotics and antiseptic rinse…In addition to the astute comments on oil pulling, flossing, brushing after any sugary snack or meal, I encourage you to consider dental probiotics. Prodentis and one other proprietary product (I wanna say BLIS K12?) are possibly the most studied.
