The Logan act criminalizes negotiation by unauthorized American citizens with foreign governments having a dispute with the United States. I don't think the US has a dispute with Hungary.

As the obvious nominee, I imagine stating intentions and informing the people who would be your peers of the policies should you take office isn't really unusual or unexpected.

Hungary has been on my mind lately, having just about finished reading "The Bridge at Andau", James Michener's account of the 1956 Hungarian Revolt against Soviet Russia and the wave of Hungarian refugees that streamed across the Hungarian-Austrian border over an insignificant bridge over an insignificant canal.
In the book, Michener pointed out Hungary has been called the Keystone of Europe for centuries. They are strong anti-communists who know what an incremental take over look like. They also know what's at stake for Europe and the US if President Trump is not re-elected.
On the refugee topic; the compare and contrast between the Hungarian refugees fleeing a true communist dictatorship is start in comparison between what is happening to the US border today, the whos and whys.
I'm watching for what will become of this meeting.
