Sorry if my headline is in bad taste. But bad taste is all I've gotten from Waffle house the last 3 times I begrudingly ate there because it's my vietnam vet friends favorite place and I refuse to complain to him
They've pared down their menu to where it's one sheet front and back, incomprehensible and it's also EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE now. It's like outback prices but it's waffle house. Who do they think they are, actually?
So did cracker barrel and white castle. Actually, so did McDonald's and kentucky fried chicken. We used to have great fast food. It's been gone for a long time.
Waffle House …seriously all he would have to do would eat their food. Tasty just not healthy. Still a family is missing a loved one and let’s not read a motive in every death.
I only went to Waffle House one time, years ago. I was disappointed, it tasted like the oil was rancid.
But I can make some mean waffles. I call them Awe-full waffles, they are awe inducing.
Not really, they're just regular waffles. I do add malt to the mix, which helps crisp up the outsides. And add blueberries, yum. Real butter and real maple syrup.
My mom used to make toaster waffles ice cream sandwiches. So good. I tried to make that for my kids but they weren't impressed. I guess they like their breakfast and dessert separated.
Even before covid, prices were going up. I managed a little grocery store and it was impossible not to raise prices, and also buy lower grade produce, when our warehouse prices were going up and up. This was before covid. Add in increased min. wages, and the increases in utilities. And the cut the banks take from credit card fees. And then, let whoever whenever steal stuff by the cartful. And pay out of pocket to replace damage from break-ins (windows, till, safes, doors, etc) because they don't want their insurance to go up...which doesn't help, cause their insurance goes up anyway. I feel for business, even the chains, it's hard to stay afloat in this political economy.
Two years ago I went there (begrudgingly) with my vet friend, and ordered what I always do, the hashbrowns all the way. They tasted heavily of detergent. I felt sick and thought i was being poisoned by thm
I knew what they did, they sprayed teh griddle with speedball and didn't wash it with water. Fucking gross. I should have gotten a to-go box, had the food analyzed, made a press story of it and then maybe even sued them into shutting down their restaurant
I can assure you that this WILL happen next time. Why do I keep going? Because my vet friend for some reason won't go to other restaurants (like a little kid watching tomas the train), even if they cost the same money....or even if I"M PAYING
The Waffle House franchises in St. Louis know what they are doing. The food is hearty, tasty, and the staff is wicked efficient. If I could I would eat there more often but my wife shares the same opinion of their food as most of the commenters in this thread. One of the things I love about Waffle House is that you can sit there and actually see your food being prepared, so no surprises.

Outback used to be amazing.

The franchises out of country taste the same. Mexican Burger King and McDonald’s taste the same. Similar with Mexican coke.
The chemicals used in American foods are usually banned in outer countries so the fast food franchises there still use the ‘original recipes’.
Still a Yuge Cracker Barrel fan. Don't have one close so its been some time since I've been there. What did CB do to screw up their menu?
Reduced menu to 3 pages and the food tastes like it's been on the hot plate for hours.
Damn. That sucks. Thx for the info
To the family, sorry for your loss.
Can I have a Baffled Waffle with extra gravy please.
True about why they never say. Although there is no 'long covid', it's the vaccine first and last, refuse to legitimise their lie language.
Ah Waffle House. Nothing like seeing the cook in a stab vest chain smoking Cigars at 3am.
Hope it was due to illness and not related to anything nefarious the CEO or company is involved in.

Maybe your friend is on the spectrum and that place is his is his safe place and routine.
Maybe eat before you go with him and then just order coffee. Can they screw up coffee?
He shouldn't have left out the 'chunked' and he could still be alive today.
