Where did Trump himself say this? I'm looking at his truths and see nothing about SoS or Rubio. Looks like Ron is just reacting to the rumor being spread around.
"Gov. Ron DeSantis has announced..." -- please provide a link for this claim.
As of the time of this writing, I can find no indication that President Trump has chosen his SoS nor that Governor DeSantis announced any replacement should the SoS actually be Rubio. What I do see is a chorus of FNM claiming that Rubio "is projected" to get the position "from sources close to the decision" and statements about DeSantis that, should Rubio get the position, then DeSantis has the authority to choose his replacement.
If you have sauce for your claims, please provide it, otherwise... Please be more careful to check past the titles - especially of FNM - to actually read their articles and pull out actual facts to share here.
.
Let me provide a brief rundown on some of the MSM proclamations. Draw your own conclusions about what's likely going on here --
CNN - "Trump likely to pick Marco ..."
NY Times - "Trump Expected to Name Marco ..."
NPR - "Trump expected to nominate Marco ..."
Reuters - "Trump expected to tap Marco ..."
Politico - "Trump plans to nominate Rubio ..."
NBC - "Trump expected to choose Sen. Marco ..."
CBS - "Trump expected to name Marco ..."
US News - "Trump Expected to Tap US Senator Marco ..."
.
Maybe President Trump will choose Rubio and maybe he won't, for whatever reason(s) he deems appropriate, but it's pretty clear that the FNM really, really wants Rubio in the position of SoS.

Sometimes there are test balloons sent up to see which way the wind is blowing.
I LOVE Matt Gaetz.. I am not a fan of Bubbles Boy--Gaetz is House not Senator- this is BS..
Those are big shoes to fill. 😆
Just kidding. Little Marco and his "lift" shoes.
I call 72 hour rule and BS on this one.
Everyone has their job in this game, spreading yak manure as fact is obviously yours.
No source?
Sauce?

Thank you, fren!
Let's remember what PDJT did to troll Mitt Romney at Bedminster in 2016 -- Romney was rumored to be the shoo-in for SoS at the time!
Leaker trap?
Ego trap?
4D chess in other forms?
