Yes McDs used the H1B visas to get rid of their entire accounting department! And to add insult to injury, the fired employees had to train them! Disney did something like that, too.
HINT: Accounting is a fungible skill. No need to FIRE American accountants except to hire lower salaried foreigners. SHEESH!

With all your highly skilled and intelligent labor force [which we do not discount, and many of them have been educated HERE], why can't YOU come up with the industries to hire them, HMMM? The barrier to industry settling someplace is often the lack of a skilled workforce needed for their operation.
Since you have such a premiere workforce, what is the problem?? Inquiring minds would like to know why they have to leave their own country??
IOW all these foreigners imported to work here --- why do not their own nations have the ability to use them??
Why cannot those genius level people use their intellect and skills to develop profitable enterprises IN THEIR OWN NATIONS?? Which would hire other local employees without the skills to go abroad??

That was a scary story. It explains why there are companies in India that prey on people in the US, especially the elderly. They will fool you into giving them your personal info and then steal money from you.

I have read a set of Kipling's Works and this summary is not what I would have expected.
He told of laziness and chicanery, sometimes with humor, but that was a long time ago. He also said "You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din."
India was really a hard assignment for the Brits. The heat was deadly, along with diseases. There were long, remote postings. The officials and officers led a high social life. Gin, balls, courting, etc. in what seemed to be a boring existence.
The Brits established the railroads and telegraph lines, with native labor, and taught them how to operate such systems.
No wonder it was called "The White man's burden."
All this can be solved by requiring visa hires to get double the salary of their highest paid engineers or whatever skill category they hire for. If they are so valuable, pay them. Problem solved...

They are turd world parasites, giving them financial details is too much temptation, even if they have a job.
We are currently bringing booking.com to court through GDPR, they are slow walking it.

On the positive side. It brought H1B Visas and the flawed system they are back to the forefront in public consciousness in a way they haven’t quite been before.
While simultaneously also dragging the fact American Culture has degraded immensely from those distant days we still long for. With the wrong people being championed as Icons to emulate to our Youth. Which is causing downstream effects and is making the U.S weaker. Though our frustration with constantly being harangued and attacked by many in positions of Wealth, power, and authority is resulting in a vigorous defense of the same culture that seems to slowly be strangling us. And making some of us resistant to the idea that some of the criticisms aren’t entirely wrong. Even if we dislike the sources of the criticism.
India doesn't have a constitution that protects individual rights, that's why. Not our problem but they come here or Canada because they've lost their property rights. Ask a farmer or zimidar

and I find that to be a false dichotomy. Using Tax deductions isn't equivalent to Tech companies laying off thousand and replacing them with 3rd world indentured servants.
