Google earth will obscure residences of high profile individuals and those with sensitive employment upon request. Mine has been obscured for years. It is blocked when using street view and high resolution overhead shots are obscured.
Sue the shit out of them, but first gather evidence. Make sure to take screenshots with timestamps and find other houses with other political and/philosophical flags and signs that aren’t blurred over. (Dem support, BLM, Pride, etc) Also check other addresses known to have Trump and/or Republican signs to see if they’re blurred as well.
In theory that sounds great however the amount of money it would cost me to retain an attorney to take on those guys who have thousands of In-House attorneys and endless funds would probably take every penny I have and then some
It's reversible. They just get mad cause u want the blur. But for safety and privacy, it's better to not reverse it. Watch, one day if this shit isn't curbed google earth will be able to zoom right into a floor plan of your house all thanks to "smart" technology.
According to the email I got from Google, it's a permanent deal on their platform. I agree with your point on the floor plan, etc. I am really adverse to the digital footprint and privacy, so I have zero intentions of lifting it, if I could.
That happened to me as well, my home on Google pic. My insurance company needed updated photos of my home. They told me Google had obstructed the pictures. She said they see it often a finger in front of the lens while they're snapping driving in the Google car through neighborhoods.

You can request that this is done as well. Once it's done, it's not reversible according to google's website. I did this for privacy.
