It's all bullshit.
They are placing "the thermometer" in the hottest places they can find to pump up the numbers...
Like putting Phoenixs thermometer directly on the hot blacktop at PHX airport, so it gets hit by all the jet engines blasts, and blacktop excessive heat.

Yeah - just like my wife putting a thermometer on the mantle of our fireplace so she can "prove" it is so hot she has to turn on the AC (32 degrees outside right now). Meanwhile my smart home motion/temp detectors around the house all show temperatures in the low 60s.
She is going through the early stages of "meanopause" (not a spelling error). She's ALWAYS hot so she will turn the AC to 63 degrees - even if it is freezing outside. I think it is an excuse as her doctor says she is not going through menopause yet.
Tell her to keep the thermometer 2 feet away from her.
And to take some sweaters off.
Because that's ridiculous.
The numbers are always reported by airports all across the nation. Plus the world doesn't heat evenly as evidenced by temps throughout a small region such as southwestern North Dakota.
