We’re not talking about waiters at anything I can afford. We’re talking about waiters at five star restaurants, where there is a difference in cultivation. That’s really not present in this country, and it’s not something that can be “trained”. That can and will change during this Golden Age, but we’re not there now.
America has either dumbed down or made people so entitled that I cannot think of a single person that has the cultivation required that does not think they are above the status of a waiter, or any other servile position. This nation is not rich on servant mentality. I am a servant (a nanny) that takes great pride in my work and am honored and incredibly fortunate to be able to do what I do, but there are precious few people in this country that have a servant’s heart.
You know…I may have to agree with you there. You really could argue it’s cultural thing. We really do have pretty terrible service workers here I’m not gonna lie. But I don’t know if importing foreign talent is the answer either.
He also said that that imported talent could be used to teach our citizens a thing or two, and I completely agree with him there. It can happen, but we’re not there YET.
I know some people do not like Grant Cardone but he is right that Asians and other Indians generate massive generational wealth because of better schooling and work ethic.
No wonder that they are attractive for H-1B visas.
But the school system in America is broken but so is the recruiting process. This is because there are many intelligent Americans under employed while having the education and certs.
So this is why President Trump understands both sides of the arguments.
tldr: US wants intelligent competent people from other countries. But the US also needs to fix the school systems and also give US citizens a chance that ae qualified and under employed.
These liberal indoctrinating colleges probably aren’t producing brilliant Americans. And everyone wants the smartest people running and working in their companies, Biden & Administration vs Trump and his, case in point. Gotta fix our education system and get back in the business of making our young the smartest.
You're not wrong, but scarcity drives demand. If those jobs are valuable, that will be reflected in how much they get paid, and if they're paid well, why wouldn't Americans want them? I'm not arguing with you because I'm sure you're wrong. I'm just not sold by what you just said quite yet. Can you elaborate a bit more on your position here?
Our people, of course, should get jobs before ANY H-1 person. My point is, (providing it’s a smartest vs cost) the ‘best and brightest’ aren’t our people, you can’t blame a company for choosing from outside. I’m not talking about companies who hire H-1 because it’s cheaper.
Bingo. We should slap a 30% tariff or something like that on any company that uses it. “Ok you can hire a foreign worker, but you gotta pay the new ERS an extra X dollars per foreign worker per month in order to do so, so they better be worth it.”
Saying he likes both sides of the argument suggests he’s working on a solution that will be a win-win for both sides. He also stresses competence.
I suspect the abusers of H1B’s might not see it as a total win because they’re going to have to prove there aren’t qualified Americans to fill positions. And, they’re going to have to prove the people they are bringing are actually competent.
Less high paying engineering and tech jobs for actual Americans
Really? Waiters? People can be taught proper service.

Help me out here. Why is that something that can't be trained? And why did you put that word in quotations?

It is most certainly something that can be trained.
This is a message to his own supporters. Trump has to be moved on some issues. He needs cover, so we need to convince him he's wrong on this.
H1-B visas need to end, and the O1 visa system needs stricter auditing.

It's going to take years to fix our education system. It was that badly damaged.
