my sister is fed employee and is going through similar nonsense. all the social media platforms she follows are full of panic like this. the only thing I can tell her is I hope that her job is important enough they don't give her the axe. as for all these other probationary employees, she tells me that even if you have seniority at current position, if transferred, you start a new probationary period. once on probation, they are now subject to removal. sounds like a big problem for federal govt employee unions...

Whatever it is, its the only job his skills are suited for. He cannot do any other job in the world.
That narrows things down considerably. There’s precious few jobs available in Government. That wouldn’t have skills and experience that couldn’t be transferred over into the Private Sector. Or even switching agencies. Hell there’s even State and local Government if he’s deadset on remaining employed by a Government Agency/Department.

Unfortunately my boyfriend is experiencing the exact same thing from his doctor daughter who had a fellowship funded indirectly by USAID. All she can think about is her loss, not the bigger picture of cleaning up the corruption. She has major TDS and tells her dad he is just an old white man without comprehending how hurtful that was.
It’s a no win for him. If he calls her she rants and insults him for supporting Trump. If he does not call her she says he is a horrible father for not caring about her or her important work and her job loss and all the kids who will die without the research she was doing.
Her generation (30-40 yr olds) contain the most selfish, self absorbed people alive. Not saying all in that age group are like that but they surely have the largest %.

I totally understand your boyfriend's situation, because my husband is going through the same. His daughters ostracized him because he is a Trump supporter and refused to get the vax. He has never been allowed to see his grandchildren. If he doesn't call or text them whenever they feel he should have, they will call and berate him for being a bad father. If he does call all they do is complain about how bad their life is because of the Republicans and Trump especially. Hell, they refuse to speak to me, but I just laugh my ass off at their woke antics and whiny entitled little lives that just aren't working out for them.

Even my mom who is a sympathetic Democrat is still not quite understanding the gravity of the situation. She can't wrap her head around the fact that if I lose my job, it's not an isolated layoff and she thinks I'll bounce back quickly.
Given my agency and role, I've made the joke for years that "If I lose my job, we all have way more important things to be concerned about." Well, we're teetering at that point. It's not a joke anymore. I say it now the assumption that in the next 4 years I won't be here. If my job is gone, the United States as we know it has collapsed.
