As I understand from reading several books, it was the first government of its kind to give the people the control. It has worked for over 200 years, just saying (it may not have been around as long as Europe's government, but we fled that to come start a new and different country. Sounds like we have been successful. I will say that without Trump we may have had a completely different outcome this time around.
It's also why our forefathers left England. Oppression they feel is their birthright, whereas the commoner should only grin and bear it. Our forefathers taught them otherwise but it now appears to other Commonwealth and European countries. Oppress the common man. Well folks, perhaps they need another history lesson to remind them where their wealth comes from. It's not from the sweat of their brow, is it?
I follow this guy on X. He said the irish government was coming after him. He posts about immigrants crimes and how they are changing Ireland for the worse.

After the storm passes I'm hoping everyone across this globe adopts both a solid Constitution and solid Bill of Rights - including an enhanced 2A proclamation. One of the main reasons why it took the beasts decades-centuries to kneecap the United States was because of our strong 2A, IMO.
And it's also a major factor in why the beasts are losing now. While "certain strategies" have worked to keep all hell from breaking out in the USA and instead wait patiently while educating ourselves and spreading the truth, rest assured the beasts would not have ultimately taken over the country, as horribly bloody as it may have become.
Nobody on the side of good wants to go the kinetic route to handle problems; we just want to be left in peace to live our lives, worship the Lord, have true justice, a fair world and not be taxed to death and poisoned. We want our children safe and have opportunities to thrive. Threaten that way of life and don't have a plan to stomp out the evil and we'll use whatever tools we have available to handle matters ourselves. We don't want this to be the case and that's why we have 2A as a deterrent.
As a Canadian, you get tired of people saying it. It doesn't solve the issue. We were bamboozled into giving our guns away. Let's try Win back our collective Nations. Then we can all thank the Wisdom of the USa for keeping their guns.
So you weren't being sarcastic, just tired of being reminded of one of the reasons why things have played out as they have - at least while we're still in the middle of it.
I understand it doesn't solve the current issue, but my feeling is that we must learn from everything we've gone through and analyze it all so we can learn from it going forward. It's not, in my mind, a statement of "national pride", but of stating simple truths. It's not just 2A; it's an entire plethora of issues. Media control is perhaps my biggest candidate for worst nemesis in all this heinous mess. There's so much, though - inherent conflicts of interest built into the medical-pharmaceutical industries being another important one. 2A, IMHO, is the very last line of defense for us all - so, thankfully and hopefully, the WHs have their plan to avert this worldwide... this time.
I do believe we're going to, collectively, get through this, rougher for some than others. People have gone through much worse in the past. We want all good people, worldwide, to get through this horrid situation and emerge safely on the other side of this storm. By even next year at this time I think we're all going to be living in a vastly different and much better world though we have decades of work ahead of us to continue cleaning up the mess while working to build a much better world.
We could be in a WW1 Trench in Winter starving and watching rats eat our dead Soldiers and we are helpless to stop them. Always look on the bright side of life, eh.
