As a former Fed, I 'sorta' agree with you. I thought Civil Service protections would allow feds to be 'protected' from harsh actions by a new Administration. I was kinda surprised when a federal judge (today?) agreed to let the mass firings continue. Mind you, I'm happy with Trump cleaning out the bureaucracy but it still shocked me.
As far as Pamela Hicks' job - at that level, she was probably an appointed bureaucrat so she wouldn't have civil service protections.

If employees at private companies are Union, they probably have more protection that federal employees. If they aren't Union, they are employed at the leisure of their management/owner.
Do I think they should be protected - No. If the company has legit reasons to remove someone, they should be removed.

Good start. But now let's start expanding 2nd Amendment rights towards the level for which the amendment was intended. That means concealed carry as a federal right in all 50 states, that means a dramatically neutered ATF and no tax stamps and additional background checks for suppressors.
