EWG Tap Water Database update shows hundreds of contaminants widespread in U.S. tap water
This year’s update to the Environmental Working Group’s Tap Water Database shows millions of Americans are drinking water tainted with harmful chemicals, heavy metals and radioactive substances. Many of these contaminants are at levels far above what scien...
Check your zip code's water safety here.
Thanks so much for the link. I tried to find the information before to no avail.
You are welcome fren!
Looks like we all need to invest in reverse osmosis filters or buy bottled water.
Next on the list...
Is bottled water safe?
Ask your dentist about bottled water, pH and cavities. Get it from the horse’s mouth.
I wouldn't trust a dentist. most advocate for root canals and fluoride.
just another "expert" in a white coat we're supposed to trust blindly just as the cabal learned society would do via their Milgram Experiment from about 50 or 60 years ago
Your comment reminded me of a comedian, (can't remember who, it was years ago). They were ragging on doctors and said they're nothing but 'guesswork in white coats'!
The guy that we bought our Ion Exchange system (RainSoft) from tested our bottled water and it was mildly better than our tap water before system install.
Have been excited about our Ion Exchange system until I learned more about Reverse Osmosis. Got caught in the sales pitch instead pressing pause and doing more research. Ion is cheaper and little to no maintenance though.
Great post. Thanks!
I know for a fact that coke's bottled water is just filtered tap water. Nothing special just out the tap into a carbon filter and into the bottle. I've seen it.
It definitely contains micro plastic and is wasteful and expensive. Get a point-of-use R.O. filter.
It doesn't look like it's free. They won't let me look unless I submit information, take a survey, and donate.

scroll a bit in the center it says search by state

The underlined Tap Water Database is a link to the search by zip code. Type in zip code, tap the search icon and up pops choices for that zip code. Choose your water supplier and get grossed out.
EWG sells filters. Do they have a vested interest in scaring people about what is in their water?
In the early 1900's thousands of people died from water born illnesses that were directly traced to the water.
Is there any factual evidence that people are dying today from drinking their tapwater? NO
There is however a lot of "YOU COULD DIE FROM CANCER IF YOU DRINK THE WATER FOR THE NEXT 75 YEARS".
This is nothing but fear porn. Better to worry about the crap in your food, like seed oils, high fructose corn syrup, and dyes. There is substantial direct evidence that Standard American Diet (SAD) is making people sick.
I feel much safer with well water, as opposed to municipal water. I still remember visiting my grandma's house as a kid in the city and there was all kinds of sh*t floating in her tap water. Utterly disgusting.
But, to your point, she lived to 93, so she had that going for her, which was nice.
The town’s water where I grew up, I believe killed both of my parents. They both died of cirrhosis of the liver and neither ever drank. There is a high rate of cancers and other diseases in that town and it’s believed that the NIH facility nearby has tainted the water table by burying chemical waste on its property.
Sorry to hear of your parents death. No doubt that the underground water table can be contaminated by companies who created percolation pits to store their waste. Lots of ignorance about groundwater back in the 50s and 60s. Wells are not always safe, natural springs are not always safe, and even rain water is not always safe. Really, reverse osmosis water is the only water that is free of contaminants, but it is also free of essential minerals. Every water company serving a large population must put out an annual Water Quality Report which lists all the potential contaminants in the water and at what concentration. People need to read the report and make their own determination on the relative safety of the water.
Very Interesting. I think the "legal limit" needs to be changed on all of these.
I've gotten to the point where I bring my own water to restaurants from my 700' deep well through an RO filtration system. Once you get used to drinking that, all water tastes like shit.
700 feet. Wow, that sound's like a lot of pipe! Must be sitting up high.
Good call on your own water.
We're right around 1000'. I'm glad we're that deep, other than in a catastrophic scenario with no power and no natural gas for my generator, getting water out of the well is all but impossible. I do have a 215 gallon inline tank though. City tap water is pretty bad and I just checked the EWG database and it has lots of chemicals in it. Duke Energy also gave out coal ash to builders as fill material. So there are cancer clusters in the area, including the high school. And I'm sure it'll leach into aquifers as well.
Thankful I have a well.
I am grateful too.
It's still a reminder to test our water I suppose.
Yes and I am afraid to test my water, I say if the EPA finds something in it they shut down my well. I think that legally they probably really couldn't but when has legality stopped them.
I'm thankful I have a distiller for my well water.
Distilling only gets heavy metal alot of VOC and such are carried over Reverse osmosis is the best option but expensive as hell and needs maintenance
Yes, distilling doesn't do everything. We have our well water tested occasionally and we have a large and expensive carbon filter at the well house, so the water is potable right from the taps in the house, but we distill what we drink and cook with.
My area shows 17 contaminants, but in the lower ppm region; plus we filter our water that we drink or use in cooking.
I'm thankful for my RO system. It looks like it filters out the 4 contaminates in our ground water.
I live in Raleigh and our water started smelling horrible the first 30 seconds of running tap water. No idea what it's from. I was just thinking about foing a $300 water test in a lab to see what it could be.
the contaminants on their own might not kill you, but that combined with the clot shot and whatever else you come across on the hiking trails will
