Wasn’t all that long ago historically. Leaders including elected ones were expected to risk their necks right alongside the men they sent into battle. Many died that way. And many are now remembered fondly for it. Even centuries later. The “Great Men of History”.
We’ve seemed to loose something along the way getting to where we are. Even Generals don’t command from the Frontline now. Stationed in guarded compounds miles behind the lines. So now scenes like the above are more common. The plebs do the suffering and dying. While our so called leaders wine and dine. Often enough with the enemy’s leadership.

War is a racket.
The sentiment has been expressed in multiple ways by various people over the years. Normally in regards to industrialized warfare of the late 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. And increasing globalization. Though such sentiments weren’t exclusive to that timeframe.
War should be paid for by confiscating the interest on the debt.
Make the bankers pay for their wars ---- instead of creating new debt.
