I knew he is a bit of a snake, but the Libertarians tend to be vicious in defending their perceived heroes, which throws a wet blanket on any criticism. Saw it first hand how hard they've gone to bat for Massie when Trump called him out.
If the vote didn't fail I would agree but since it failed, it's not impossible that this could even be optics to appear distant from Trump for something else which is coming up.
