I haven't had health insurance for almost 20 years. I didn't need to go to doctors, and my car insurance covered me for any possible accidents. When I got to the right age a few years ago, I got medicare ( because I was told that I had to, I argued that) and I do now have an advantage plan with I pay $26 a month for. The biggest thing that I use that for is dental which is $2000 a year. Surprising enough, I'm much healthier that my peers who rely heavily on doctors to "maintain their health"
Thank you! It is very scary for people to not have insurance. Another Psy Op. Insurance only bumps up the cost of everything. You can go into any clinic and say you don't have insurance and the fees are less. I have a friend who only got married to her partner for the insurance so her daughter could have surgery for a kidney that wasn't connected right and not developing. It was actually a bonafide surgery. Later he took her to the doctor and said I have insurance and the co pay bill was higher than the actual bill before they had insurance! His wife had learned to lie, and say she didn't have insurance, and later she would turn the bills in to her insurance. WTF!. She committed fraud to save money, and was saving the insurance co money!
Oh buddy Senator Hawley, I could tell you facts about this! Just 1 of many but currently a family got hit with a tornado and 3” hail. Allstate adjusted the claim damage at $3,200.00. I got involved and investigated causing a 2nd adjuster to reinspect. He actually found a little more damage than I did. Get the 2nd adjustment results from Allstate and it went up to $12,000. My estimates are $141,000. Contractors estimated cost is $142,000. I KNOW the 2nd adjuster (he used to work for me 6 years ago) and he apologized that the 2nd adjustment was changed and that was not his estimated cost of repairs. This needs to stop—even though I may be out of a job!
I have never seen hail damage that high. Is this a high value home? Over a million? Most storm claims Ive seen are 10-30K at most. 50K, maybe 60K to reside AND reroof a home.
It is a “higher” value home but that size of wind driven hail damages much more than roof/gutters. This home has 31 damaged windows (replacement much higher cost than the roof) and siding holes.
15 years ago yes. Today I represent the insureds. Been in the insurance industry 43 years and change is the only guarantee. The last 10 it’s been change hyperdrive. Good and Bad.
14 years myself. Less than 6 years to retire and not sure I can make it that short time. I believe the state of affairs has many contributors. The key root cause in my opinion is the quality, or lack of quality, current staff and independent adjusters have. 75% attrition rate, DEI hires all over the place, experienced resources have retired or left because they are sick of the bs. When Covid hit most of the quality resources that could retire did. Resources are the real reason claims have 3,4 or more adjusters. By the time the claim gets to someone qualified they are having to clean up huge messes.
As someone who has been doing complex claims for years the good resources wind up doing nothing but clean up on claims that are 6 months old. Because resources are so incompetent companies have taken away most decision making authority and review most the claims. Many of these poor resources become leaders and the cycle gets worse.
Well said fren. As an insured representative I normally fight to get to “you” (the knowledgeable “old timers” or right to the legal department). I see these cost saving measures using these 3rd party “inspectors/quasi adjusters” who have their “guidelines” to follow that is not a portion of the policy. My State just passed huge regulatory change that anyone representing the carrier for inspection or writing estimates requires an adjuster license (no repricocity) with bonds and testing and these actions that Senator Hawley is questioning the Allstate CEO about are now felonies. Basically, adjusters, appraisers and Umpires beware. Be interesting to see what happens now that the dust is settled 🤷♂️
They also pay millions for celebrities to appear in their commercials. I think their celebrity is Payton Manning. State Farm is worse, I can’t even begin to imagine how much they pay to produce their commercials.
Remember the catch phrase in their advertisements? "You're in good hands with Allstate". Yeah right, until they decide to drop you (right after your insurance claim).
I am in the process of dumping Allstate for all of my insurance. They are no longer writing any commercial policies and sent letters of non renewal. What a pain in the ass.
This is f***ing bullshit!. People pay the high premiums, then get denied, and the managment gets millions.
insurance companies are the scum of the earth
If it weren't for Jesus Christ, I would say Insurance fraud is a commendable action.
LOL
Oh I know. That's why I dropped most insurance especially health and dental. They are such scams.
Good for you! Rates are ridiculous.
I work in health care (sick care), and I use mostly natural remedies so why do I need them?
I bought the most expensive dental insurance and then they changed their policy and I got stuck with a large bill. I dropped them like a hot potato.

Amen. You are smart.

Thats a pretty expensive logo they pull up behind all those field goals during football season too.
Sad they can have that but cannot pay customers claim.

Did you see the "got hit with a tornado" part?

Are you a catastrophe adjuster? I am and I could talk for hours about all of the issues.

Definitely need to stop because I don't want to see this at all. I am done with health insurance and dental but all insurance are scams.
ALL fucking insurance companies should:
-Be forced to be not-for-profit
-Should NOT be allowed to give out bonuses to admin
-Should have the rates of benefits paid out to individual consumers published
-Have full transparency on the company's financial transactions
-Should be audited annually, by an unbiased unrelated party, to make sure the public isn't getting hosed.
We pay in premiums in good faith that we will be covered in a time of need
I don't know what needs to happen with insurances but I know they are a big scam.
IMO ---- insurance is gambling for profit and should be made illegal.
They also pay millions for celebrities to appear in their commercials. I think their celebrity is Payton Manning. State Farm is worse, I can’t even begin to imagine how much they pay to produce their commercials.
For real, State Farm practically has Patrick Mahomes on retainer.
And every insurance company runs ads nonstop. Its a zero-sum game. If i move my insurance to another company, my old company loses out
It reminds me of those old commercials for collect calls or dial-around.
save a whole penny on your next collect call!
less than zero
Oh yeah. I know.

Good hands but grabby fingers.

Well, hard to keep up with commercial claims when your CEO needs a $26 mil a year salary. That's lots of claims.
Canceling all commercial will definitely hurt the personal side. I can't be the only one dropping my personal because of them dropping our commercial.
I have State Farm. I don't think it is that much better.
