The claim of a $396M contract for 268 lots in Lahaina at $1.5M each is false. The actual contract is $64.2M for debris removal across over 2,000 properties, averaging ~$32,100 per property. Cleanup involves hazardous materials and cultural monitoring, justifying costs. No evidence supports corruption claims, though concerns about spending efficiency are valid.
Bravo for emphasizing facts. Notice the psychology of the board: rather than focus on truth (the facts), the responses focus on what they want to be true (bias fantasy).
Cultural monitoring is a fancy term in those circles for looking out for graves and reservations. It's built into everything anyone does in Hawaii. Graves for obvious reasons, and reservations for legal reasons. Nevada has a lot of rules like that, same with Northern Indiana.
The thing to look out for is how states implement that, most states do well with it, even Hawaii, but some are pretty dishonest like Cali. But, there was pretty strong federal regulation over how it was spent, but those were killed by DOGE.

That sounds so counterintuitive to me. Wouldn't regulations help to account for and track the money, while the lack thereof, could leave it open to laundering. Also, how does DOGE figure this saves money. I haven't had a chance to read very much on this.
"Crony Crapitalism" awarding obscene money to their knuckle dragging friends that kick it back to themselves...
The entire Lahina "operation" is/was a total shit show... and you KNOW it's some whacked out rope a dope conspiratorial psyop because the same [DS] phuck boi that managed the Las Vegas cover-up, just so happened to have managed Lahina...
Looks like this is way off or just plain disinfo.

What the hell does that mean and how does it affect 'costs'?

Thank you for that explanation, makes sense. Now I have a better understanding, appreciate it!

Yeah, it doesn't make sense, I think they killed the whole thing without knowing what it was.
Well, I hope they figure it out and get their shit together. 🙄
And the 450 Sq Ft small homes built that are very basic are coming in at $886,000 per tiny home! 🤣
That is crazy.
It's criminal!
Its so strange. You can't claim it's a good neighborhood anymore after it burned down. It will take years.
My coworker lost his home in the LA fires and is pretty adamant his property will have value when it's rebuilt.
I would have just given the bank the lot and said good luck personally
Perhaps at some point this company will secure a contract to clean up Gaza.
Happening in 3...2...1...
And still NO arrests
I'll do it for 150k per lot....
Who are these people? This is Criminal behaviour.
Money Laundering 101

How many before it's statistically impossible?
Clowns in action...🤡🤡🤡
And we know Oprah Winfrey owns a significant amount of land in Maui. Connect -the-dots!
so what is this companies name?
The “odds” are really good if you kickback to the right people.
DOGE where are you right now?
It is fraud and kickbacks.
Weird. That's the same company Adam Corolla has been visiting and making videos with.
