We know Iran will retaliate in the least painful way imaginable to the United States, by closing the Strait of Hormuz. It will hurt China more than it hurt us and it will cause a war between Iran and China where both will fight to the death while China forgets all about the United States.
Plus, it will have the added benefit of seeing the factories that produce product for the rest of the world being changed over to producing weapons for use against Iran.
Good point about Hormuz. Just like sanctions against Russia actually benefited them, Iran's actions against US will actually benefit us. Optics are gonna be wonderful though!
One promise put forth by POTUS: We are to be energy independent. We do rely on OPEC right now, but it isn't as bad as it was years ago before Trump as we have Saudi Arabia, which runs OPEC, on our side. As I said in my original comment, closing the strait will hurt China more than it hurts Iran. Both countries have an alliance with each other and closing Hormuz will cause a violation of that alliance.
