I think this is pretty clearly a form of deprogramming.
The "correct' side gets all the laugh lines, applause cues, etc., but it's presented in the most base, animalistic manner possible. Colbert is reduced to huffing, fuming, swearing, gesticulating, but the most he's able to muster is an inaccurate car analogy.
Meanwhile, the Kennedy information gets presented professionally and succinctly, with the core arguments left to hang in the air, unaddressed.
Compare this with golden age cabal programming, when the audience would be left with memorable, logical, emotive, authority-reinforced counterpoints that could be delivered to protect the narrative.
It puts my mind at ease as my family watch this man nightly. If white hats are running the show I will simply smile bemusedly as they continue to do so.
