Residents need to rally and rise up
He needs to abolish the organization that sets California's districts, which is not that old. He also needs to eliminate the restriction on partisan redistricting. Both of these are enshrined in the state constitution.
If he fails to get rid of the partisan clause, he's still screwed. He's said several times he's going to do it because Trump and because Texas, spelling out he will take Republican seats. I've got to think if the California supreme court rules in bad faith, the US Supreme Court might step in.
It seems like a tall order, but he's also counting the votes. Part of me wonders if Trump isn't setting him up. They'll cheat just as we've seen for many elections. Trump should have control over the agencies that can forensically watch what is happening in real time.
When a criminal helps a prosecutor they call it a cooperating witness , weather they appear to be set up or not. They become a CheckerBoard Pawn. Black and White but the Black side can't see the white uses.

To 'save democracy' is correct. Keep in mind that the USA is Not a Democracy and their 'democracy' means Cal. and NY City Own and Rule over The US. Republic.
As understood by Democrats: "Democracy" = rule by Democrats. Not some airy-fairy fantasy of rule by popular assent. They would gag on it.

Unfortunately, yes. Republicans regularly poll around 40% of the electorate (after whatever cheating is counted) but receive about 10% of the seats. It's pretty bad.
Edit: decided to look it up instead of spitball. Current party breakdown is 60-19 in the assembly, 30-10 in the Senate.

Can anyone enlighten me on how congressional maps can be changed so easily by calling a special session. I mean, it seems to me that the number of demoncraps/Republicans who reside in the state determines how such a map can be drawn.
Per U.S. Constitution Article 1 Section 2: one congressional rep for every 30,000 citizens. That means legal citizens, not Democrat, Republican or political affiliation of choice.

Have you looked at the maps? What Texas is doing is NOT "Gerrymandering." It is simply redistricting...and de-Gerrymandering the previous map. The namesake "Gerrymander" was an artifact of Democratic control of the redistricting.
(Don't bother to pettifog over this being the Democratic-Republican Party. It was originally a Democratic Party at the outset of the nation, but adopted the appendage to blunt the public aversion to the Democratic part. They have been in continuous existence ever since, having dropped the "Republican" part. Always the party of racial slavery and Jacobinism.)
Have you seen the districts they're talking about in Texas? Either gerrymandered or drawn by a two year old or a very drunk 60 year old.
