I have since watched a few clips and I can see why the left hated him. He was highly dangerous to their toxic views of the world, tearing down the walls they had created to indoctrinate young people, many of whom knew things weren't right but needed some help.
He had a lot of patience and good intentions. Its been ironic seeing people from all walks of life praise him and their interactions with him, gays, blacks, Hispanics etc.
