It was obvious because it came almost immediately after the main election, and Trump put a lot of effort into campaigning for the R. This guy said within 30 sec of the shut down going into effect, the state dept had their list of who they were furloughing. These people can't be fired by the president. Except in the federal employee law from 1978, after 31 days of a shut down, the president can fire at will with zero legal back lash. That's 11/2/25. Then, at 61 days, 12/2/25, Trump can eliminate fed depts, agencies with no legal backlash. USAID, NED, he had two others that I don't remember right now, all wiped out by a stroke of Trump's pen and requiring zero congressional consent.
