Hey, wait a minute...Trump had said the Air Traffic Controllers might get $10K bonus for working through the schumer shutdown...BUT this $10k bonus to the TSA seems very excessive to me! I agreed with the ATC bonus, due to the sheer numbers of lives in their hands on all of the planes during their shift, but i really fail to see that the TSA had the same kind of impact on air travel...what am i missing?? also, i think i would be pissed if i were an ATC, with the TSA getting the exact same bonus...i even checked to see if this was maybe Babylon Bee article...
She gave our money to them... They probably make way more than most of us. $1,000 would have been better. Why stop at $10k though, why not $25k after all its not Noems money, its ours... Gross. My husband is a Navy veteran working as 911/dispatch for Fort Knox. Their office is short staffed by FIVE people at the moment, as of late he's been working six, sometimes 7 days a week on a shift he really can't stand (second, since I work first we're basically two ships passing in the night) He and his coworkers don't deserve photo ops and bonuses? Bullshit.
(Not directed at you Purkiss) - For the love of GOD - everyone needs to stop calling them AGENTS. They are TSA Officers. They have ZERO law enforcement duties - they are not cops or federal agents. They are professional molesters - that's it. The only service they provide is security theater. They probably also sell everyone's shampoo, drinks, and other things they deem as liquid over 3 ounces.
They also steal a LOT of stuff - sometimes they hide it, and sometimes they do it to your face. They took 5 of my little eyeglass toolkits going into and out of KCI years ago (one each trip). I even carried a printout from their own website that said I was allowed to bring them on. They stopped when I called the cops to the gate and told the real cop if the TSA didn't back off I would press theft changes right there. The cop told him I was right and he would press charges immediately if he didn't give me back the 6th toolkit they tried to steal. Do not trust them.
Last time I flew was in 2007, going back home for my Mother's memorial service. I've not flown since and won't be until and unless the TSA goons are no longer there. They're a caricature of what they MIGHT be. Violating privacy rights is not an American ideal.
i commented earlier, but still considering this: Noem certainly did not just do this without Trump's knowledge/approval, so there's more to this than we are seeing at this time...something's not making sense, so we just need to wait this one out, imo...seems off to me, in watching the announcement, nobody looks happy about this bonus, making me wonder why that might be...as Trump famously says "let's see what happens..."
Per Grok: The TSA bonuses are coming from existing DHS carryover funds (money already appropriated by Congress in prior years that wasn’t spent), not from new taxpayer dollars taken out of the current budget.
It's hard for me to believe there's such a thing as funds that haven't been spent.
