Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way

My thought or observation for the day: The brainwashing was prevalent at least fifty years ago. Or maybe just getting started, IDK. I’ve been looking at my family’s very old cook books and searching old fashioned recipes. Even in the cookbooks they say margarine instead of butter. If you aren’t familiar with the history of margarine, look it up. That’s how far back the control goes. Summary by AI: (I know the story but I’m awful with putting together words and long winded) How the Invention of Margarine Disrupted Big Butter | by ... Margarine was invented in 1869 by Hippolyte Mège-Mouriès for Napoleon III as a cheap butter substitute from beef fat, named "oleomargarine," Ingredients: His original "oleomargarine" used beef fat (tallow), milk, and salt, with a jelly-like consistency. at some point it became more chemicals than food
In Sam’s last weekend a lady told her husband, Get buuuter He got margarine. Silently I said that ain’t Buuuter. I’m not sure where she was from but not from the south. I’m not laughing at her, I love hearing different accents.
No margarine in my house. I just fried Eastern North Carolina peanuts in beef tallow. Peanuts are cooked differently by regions, especially boiled peanuts. I’m making homemade food boxes for family. Since doing food elimination diet peanuts tastes like dirt to me. Not peanut butter, but just peanuts, yuck. I used to love pecans, even raw. Tried one today and it tasted like soap. Maybe God is telling me you don’t need these foods. First time in my life I didn’t eat boiled peanuts. I’m roasting pecans and doing pralines. Will be interesting to see if I still like them.
from AI:
While exact figures for the total number of Catholic soldiers are unavailable because religious affiliation was not typically recorded, historians estimate that Catholics participated in the Revolutionary War in numbers disproportionately higher than their share of the total population.
At the time of the Revolution, Catholics made up only 1% to 1.6% of the colonial population, roughly 25,000 to 35,000 people. Despite this small demographic, their contribution was substantial across several categories:
High Proportion of Patriots: Most American Catholics lived in Maryland and Pennsylvania and overwhelmingly supported the Patriot cause.
Irish-Catholic Volunteers: A significant portion of the Continental Army consisted of Irish immigrants, many of whom were Catholic. Some estimates suggest Catholic soldiers made up at least 5% of the American forces.
Key Commanders:
Commodore John Barry: Known as the "Father of the American Navy," he was an Irish-born Catholic who received the first commission in the U.S. Navy from George Washington.
General Stephen Moylan: An Irish-born Catholic who served as Washington’s aide-de-camp and was a prominent cavalry commander.
Colonel John Fitzgerald: A trusted aide and private secretary to George Washington.
The American victory relied heavily on tens of thousands of Catholic allies from abroad:
France: The French Expeditionary Force under Rochambeau and the French Navy under De Grasse consisted of tens of thousands of Catholic soldiers and sailors.
Spain: Bernardo de Gálvez, the Catholic Governor of Louisiana, led a military campaign against the British along the Gulf Coast, capturing key territories and preventing the British from encircling the colonies from the South.
Prominent individual Catholics from Europe traveled to fight for the American cause, including:
Marquis de Lafayette (France)
Casimir Pulaski (Poland)
Jean-Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur, comte de Rochambeau (France)
While some Catholics remained loyal to the Crown—such as the short-lived Roman Catholic Volunteers (approx. 200 men)—most joined the American rebels to escape the anti-Catholic laws of the British government.

The announcement is 7pm et or CT?
It's always EST I believe. So the astronomers are posting it up about 3I Atlas. It is due to be closest at almost the same time as the winter solstice. Sky event? Magical Mystery Bus coming to take us away? A "star" not seen in over 2,000 years? Auspicious sign from heaven? A kaboom and there goes us? If it the last one, I will probably break these long years of sobriety and hit my son up for his Hennessy and drink some real adult egg nog, I mean, c;mon, after decades, if it is a sky event that may close it all down, it would avoid the hangover and I don't think the good Lord would hold it against me.

Donald Trump incorporated Feng Shui principles, particularly in the Trump International Hotel & Tower, using elements like a large metal globe and a glassy exterior to redirect negative energy and attract prosperity, a practice he adopted because it reportedly made him money, especially attracting Asian buyers. He believed aligning buildings with Feng Shui principles, such as facing Central Park (the "green dragon"), maximized positive energy (chi) for success.

Also, Las Vegas casinos heavily use feng shui principles, especially for Asian clientele, incorporating elements like specific colors (red for luck), avoiding the unlucky number four (skipping 4th floors), strategic placement for "chi" (energy) flow, water features (symbolizing wealth), and incorporating lucky symbols like dragons to attract prosperity and create a more harmonious, luck-filled gaming environment.

Photographer Finds Thousands of Dinosaur Footprints Near Italian Winter Olympic Venue
https://www.breitbart.com/news/a-photographer-finds-thousands-of-dinosaur-footprints-near-italian-winter-olympic-venue/
The Associated PressThe Associated Press AP16 Dec 2025109 MILAN (AP) — A wildlife photographer stumbled upon one of the oldest and largest known collections of dinosaur footprints, dating back about 210 million years to the Triassic Period, high in an Italian national park near the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympic venue of Bormio, officials announced Tuesday.
The discovery in the Stelvio National Park was striking for the sheer number of footprints, estimated at as many as 20,000 over some five kilometers (three miles), and the location near the Swiss border, once a prehistoric coastal area, that has never previously yielded dinosaur tracks, experts said.
“This time reality really surpasses fantasy,’’ said Cristiano Dal Sasso, a paleontologist at Milan’s Natural History Museum, who received the first call from wildlife photographer Elio Della Ferrera after making the discovery.
The dinosaur prints are believed to have been made by long-necked bipedal herbivores that were up to 10 meters (33 feet) long, weighing up to four tons, similar to a Plateosaurus, Dal Sasso said. Some of the tracks were 40 centimeters wide, with visible claws.
The footprints indicated that the dinosaurs traveled in packs and they sometimes stopped in circular formations, possibly as a protective measure.

“There are very obvious traces of individuals that have walked at a slow, calm, quiet rhythmic pace, without running,’’ Dal Sasso told a press conference.
The tracks were discovered by Della Ferrera, who set out to photograph deer and vultures in September when his camera was trained on a vertical wall about 600 meters (nearly 2,000 feet) above the nearest road.
The location, some 2,400 to 2,800 meters (7,900-9,200 feet) above sea level on a north-facing wall that is mostly in the shade, made the footprints, though in plain sight, particularly hard to spot without a very strong lens, Dal Sasso said.
Della Ferra said something strange caught his eye, and he scaled a vertical rock wall with some difficulty to get a closer look.
“The huge surprise was not so much in discovering the footprints, but in discovering such a huge quantity,’’ Della Ferrara said. “There are really tens of thousands of prints up there, more or less well-preserved.’’
The entrance of the park, where the prints were discovered, is located just two kilometers (a mile) from the mountain town of Bormio, where Men’s Alpine skiing will be held during the Feb. 6-22 Games.
Lombardy regional governor, Attilio Fontana, hailed the discovery as a “gift for the Olympics,” even if the site is too remote to access in the winter, and plans for eventual public access have not been made.

Q Day is here.
I'm doing my due diligence regarding how I'm going to vote in the 2026 elections, starting with my State Senator. In the process of gathering candidate information, I wondered "Who vets the candidates that are to appear on the ballot?"
So, I asked Grok Per Oklahoma Elections Law, who is supposed to vet candidates for qualifications and eligibility?
Here's the convo: https://grok.com/share/c2hhcmQtNA_e0eb8b6b-2bf4-48ad-b146-578efb77d23d
This seems to be deficient, IMHO. So, in case Grok answered wrongly, I'm going to email the Oklahoma State Elections Board to ask them the same question.
But, I bet OKLAHOMA is not alone in this regard. It might kinda explain some stuff regarding why some (shall we say) less Meritorious candidates manage to get into office.
I plan to do my homework before I vote. Just thought I'd share.
President Trump, in last night's speech, made it a point to say multiple times F22 and F35 about the jets. Then he adds another 22 speaking of the years of the pilots who flew the mission to Iran bombing, that they waited to run that mission. I'd say that is strong comms.

I am just watching Josh and Alpha on Defcon Zero from last night and Josh points to the number 22 also as POTUS truth post about tonight's address has the captilization and it adds up to 22.
So Christmas is supposed to be Jesus's birthday but instead of focusing on Jesus's life and His teachings we all obsessed over Santa (Satan) and gifts (material things). Epiphany of the day..
God bless everyone at GAW.
Ascension..
I just watched a video (reel) on instagram. The guy was talking this, he didn’t mention Santa or Satan. He was making a point that holidays are just another distraction. Said, we are nothing more than a resource them. No different than oil etc. I agree 100%, we are still doing gifts with my daughter, husband and grandchildren but focusing more on the kids. I agree with you about Santa. I think some parents do Santa because it’s how they were raised. I was raised with Santa but I also knew Christmas was Jesus and Santa was just an extra thing. I don’t know if it was right, but I told my daughter early on the parents paid Santa for the gifts. It was different for me as a child, I went to private school and was never around the lower income kids. My daughter went to public school and I didn’t want to contribute to a kid getting hurt feelings because they got less from Santa. I’ve been over the commercialized Christmas and other holidays for years. We have been married 37 years and have never given each other anniversary gifts. We went out to eat and our daughter tagged along. I get Mother’s Day gifts but wouldn’t be offended if I didn’t. Treat people like Christ would everyday instead of just one day. It’s sad that so many people don’t get out of the holiday buying cycle.

We do both in our home, The Nativity set that belonged to my grandmother is front and center, the wreath reminds us of new life, in the green, as God has given us a son and eternal "evergreen" life, the tree is a tradition in my culture, and the gifts represent love and gratitude for each other. Once the children are grown up, there is less of the thrill on Christmas morning, but we still want the tradition to go on. Santa does not mean Satan! It means Saint, or holy in Latin, after Saint Nicholas, a bishop known for his generosity, from Myra Greece, thus the gift giving in his name. It has become secular to non believers, but it is a Holy Day for many faithful in the Northern Hemisphere. In Eastern Orthodox churches, it is celebrated on the Epiphany, also known as feast of the Three Kings in many Christian observances in Latin America and Ethiopia. I suppose Jehovas witness people have misconstrued it to some sort of pagan religion, but if you look back historically, it is just tradition that was started with the celebration of Christ and the nativity narrative. If ever there was a time to keep up traditional practices of our sacred observances, it is now, with the threat of secular globalism.
u/lovemyGod Just beautiful! I knew most of what you described and growing up I was taught all of this. When my daughter was about five till maybe ten to twelve, during the Christmas season I bought my daughter a Christmas book. Some were Santa and other type books in addition to the story of Jesus birth. My mom went all out for Christmas decorating, cooking and buying gifts. We were also taught the bible and raised in church. She always made the advent wreath for church. I wish churches still did these old traditions. Blending old and new isn’t a bad thing.
I wish the church's would bring back the bells !
I’m old enough to remember bells, not at a church. I think maybe the courthouse. I grew up in a country church built before the civil war. It didn’t have bells. I don’t remember where I saw someone talking a bells. “They” have removed bells from everywhere. Dang I wish I could remember more.
Not insulting St Nicholas.. just the word Santa itself the symbol, and if you rearrange the letters.. it's a 3am epiphany, didn't go deep
Thank you. u/bibloop is woefully ignorant.
I agree with you that there should be more focus on Jesus but Santa isn't Satan cmon man
not insulting St Nicholas.. haha.. and I love gifts. Send me some
Interestingly, and I never noticed this before until someone pointed it out a few years ago, Santa, rearranged letters can spell satan.
But I saw meme if u spell it backward 😂😂

Scrolling any feed….oh look, Candace Owen’s…SCROLL VERY QUICKLY…Alex jones …SCROLL VERY QUICKLY…Fuentes…SCROLL VERY QUICKLY…anything Kirk…SCROLL VERY QUICKLY. I’m done with all of it.
Same, it’s distracting keeping up with opinions. I like the comedian in the attached clip. John Crist is talking about going to a Christmas party either at Tucker Carlson’s house or he was there. He’s saying in their podcast they don’t like each other but are friends at the party. It’s all a show. Occasionally I listen to the ones I like but usually keep scrolling.

WELL SAID. I down vote all of it.
Same here.
