Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way

There’s a reason God designed women not to have babies late in life. (I know it was different in the Old Testament) My first day of keeping my second granddaughter went well. I won’t be lining up to have kids at this point in life. The three year old is little con artist but very sweet. I fear I’m getting the payback that I didn’t get with my daughter. The baby is cute and already keeping everyone on their toes. Don’t get between her and eating! The first one was very chill as a baby. New baby is the opposite. It’s amazing how God makes us so different from each other. Children are such a blessing. You have to be very possessed by the devil to hurt something so innocent. Hug your babies, pray for their protection & treasure them❤️ They are the future! Getting old ain’t so bad when you get this much unconditional love every day. Blessings frens😊
blessings, interesting thoughts shared on children & grandchildren, good reminder to pray for each
Growing up I had a friend whose parents were almost twice as old as my own. I always used to feel sorry for him, since he wasn't able to do anything since he was always needed at home just in case they needed help. Also, his dad never played with him much, they never went on holidays, their house always felt kinda lonely sad.
Dang that’s sad. Sounds like it could have been as much attitude towards kids as them not being able to do things with their child. I think parents using screens to babysit is just as bad. I’m not against some screen time. That “almost” 3 year old will try you. Walks in my house asking for Barney & others plus a snack. I’m 58 and I know if we had to raise our grandkids we would be beyond tired. But, we would do it because it’s what you do when you love someone. I do feel younger and happier on days I’m around my granddaughter. Seeing my daughter say things I used to say to her is priceless.
There is HOPE America; >South Korea has recently reversed its Birthrate Decline with actual population growth of Native Koreans.
That’s great for the Koreans. Hopefully Trumps plans to help young married couples get started in life more babies will come. I pray that these young people that were quick to take the jab didn’t harm themselves permanently. God has a way of reversing harm. Miracles happen everyday.

Thought - the 10 days of darkness — do the 10 days have to be consecutive? Or could those 10 days be separate events in different cities that are notable? Thinking of France, Venezuela, Iran. Think one of the cities in Ukraine was affected. This drop 4532 — As the darkness falls so does our enemies. This bothers me somewhat - the verb (does- singular) doesn’t match with either noun in the sentence — does falls - doesn’t make sense— enemies does — doesn’t make sense. The verb is singular -does this show that each of the 10 days is a separate event?
Q said this is Biblical
This is in the letter to Smyrna: the tribulation ten days was actually 10 separate times throughout the church’s history.
Just throwing this idea out there - conversation/feedback would be appreciated.
Also, I think that 10 days of darkness/darnkess in any blue city would lead to a civil war and unnecessary loss of life.

Does anyone have analysis/thoughts on why historic deportation numbers under non-Trump presidencies was so high, and in particular why the media flex on Obama's deportation numbers?
I know for damn sure that border has been wide open for every non-Trump day, because the reality is a multitude of industries are run on illegal labor now, and said fact is integrated into the argument in favor of open borders. A huge % of schools and neighborhoods are dedicated to illegals, and many government programs prioritize illegals over citizens.
So what "enforcement" was occurring that DHS was reporting on? Why does the media flex on this topic when their goal is clearly to have the public take a soft stance on deportation?
Is it simply that their best card is to make Trump's immigration management look inept? Create an alternate history that border enforcement was better as well as "nicer" under prior admins? I could see that.
Can you post a couple of links of the so called media flex you are referring to, so I have a better idea what you are talking about?
https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/us/obama-deported-more-people-than-trump-so-why-does-trumps-policy-feel-harsher/articleshow/126412552.cms
And try this search string in X to get a general idea of the narrative:
"Obama quietly followed the law and focused on immigrants with criminal records."
https://x.com/search?q=Obama%20quietly%20followed%20the%20law%20and%20focused%20on%20immigrants%20with%20criminal%20records.%20&src=typed_query&f=live
Try variations of the phrase to get an idea of what accounts it's seeded with.
Obama's deportation record: https://www.migrationpolicy.org/article/obama-record-deportations-deporter-chief-or-not
5.2 million in 8 years = 660K per year.
Trump's deportation record: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deportation_in_the_second_Trump_administration
622,000 deported + 1,900,000 self-deported From Jan 20 2025 to Dec 2025. = 2.5 million in one year.
Important points:
The idea that Obama deported more than Trump had some water in Trump's first term, but is completely off the mark this term.
No states obstructed Obama's deportations. The reason why Trump cannot do it "quietly" is because states are making sure he cant.
How many illegals actually migrated under Obama vs Trump is a metric far more important than how many they deported. Here is some data: https://cis.org/Report/25-Million-Join-Illegal-Population-under-Obama
If the psyop is about making it sound like Trump is inefficient in deporting, whom is is aimed at? Not the normies but us, MAGA supportors. So the real question is, are we happy with what Trump is doing, regardless of what Obama supposedly did? Not just in terms of deportations, but in terms of net increase/decrease of illegal immigrants.
TL;DR - Are you happy with how Trump is handling the illegal immigrant issue as a whole ? If so, we dont need to worry about this psyop.

I'd like to see the US military fly into Iran with a couple of helicopters, zap the totalitarians with that sonic/microwave weapon that incapacitates them to make them puke and fart blood. Shoot those guards because they've gotta be assholes anyway. Then nab Khomeini and give him a helicopter ride. I'm not talking about the Pinochet version, because I'd prefer that he be held accountable by the people he's oppressed since I was a child. Knock out their detection just like they did in Venezuela so that they can't even see our soldiers coming. In and out real fast, no US casualties, and let the people have their country back.
I think Khomeini will run to Syria and Putin will get him out of the way. - I think Putin is on WH team. JMO.
Agreed!
The only thing I would change, is to have Khomeini suspended from the helicopter, much like the do when they have to airlift a horse or heavy object and let us enjoy a few laughs at his expense. Just adding my two cents.
I would love to see that as well, but Trump does everything by the book. Venezuela operation was possible I believe due to various reasons - declaring narcos as terrorists, sealed indictment etc. With Iran, not sure how the factors must align.
Minnesota, Ice & Protesters: What are your thoughts? I’m following several accounts on instagram that post altercations between ice & protesters. Most comments are arrest, deport, arrest MN government & arrest soros. Yes, our military could go in take care of the situation in no time.
I believe Trump & Tean are letting it play out to red pill the sheep. They might not care about the safety of vaccines, their health and worldly matters. You know they have known about the corruption. The more this drags out the worse the left looks, especially to the hard working American tax payers. Most work paycheck to paycheck and learning where the money is going has lit a fuse on social media.
Your thoughts? Is this going to be handled or swept under the rug? Is this a distraction?
I agree with you. After the Maduro arrest, it's obvious that the Trump administration can handle anything. Stupid wokes are not much of a challenge after whipping the butt of Maduro's security.
I believe this is a Normie Education Program.
The simplest explanation is the more rope they're given the stronger the case is when the crackdown comes.
New crimes also trigger new statutes of limitation, cuz lord knows this shit has been going on for long enough that some folks would be off the hook for earlier crimes.
If the resistance was subtle and hidden, there'd be reasonable doubt and it'd be harder to sell to juries and the general public. I think white hats very much want the public to see the contrast between say COVID enforcement and immigration enforcement, and how representatives, cities, corporations respond to each threat.
e.g. Why is ICE checking for ID a gestapo event now, but mandatory vaccines/masks and vaccine passport were not? People subconsciously have an understanding of the deep, pervasive hypocrisy of their government/culture/news.
Great points I didn’t think of, thanks.
makes sense, interesting thoughts on the Pres. Trump & team strategy, the fraud has to be stopped, and the process of bringing in non-Americans in to pad the rolls od the socialist Democratic party has to end. I don’t remember Minnesotans being outspoken on the mRNA shots
I think we aren’t seeing everything and that’s probably a good thing. I feel like in the end all truths will be revealed. The general public can’t handle the truth, in the voice of Jack Nicholson.
Question for you guys that have dogs, do you give them bones? I have done daily brushing of his teeth to get them clean (didn’t help much) and finally I gave him a bone and that’s what really worked. I don’t have them cleaned at the vet anymore because they end up pulling teeth every time you ask them to do a teeth cleaning.
I had stopped giving him bones a few years ago because one of the vets told me that they can splinter and caused digestive issues.
I’d be interested in hearing if you guys think bones are safe to give to dogs.
Drop antlers from white tail deer... or harvested yourself. Also, my pets love venison.
Ok thanks that’s a good idea.
I’ve never given dogs bones. I can’t imagine a dog in the wild not chewing on bones. I think poultry bones splinter and dogs should not have them. Beef are probably alright, but I’m not an expert. I say do what you think is best for your dog. Heck I trust people’s opinions on here quicker than I trust veterinary experts. The vet talked us into having our 1st dachshund’s teeth cleaned just after she turned 11. She died a few months later. We always knew she had a heart murmur, but never had any problems. I can’t prove it but I believe anesthesia at her older age didn’t help the situation. I don’t trust vets! They are just as bad as doctors. Our second dachshund that’s about nine has seizures about 1-2 times a year usually in the fall when weather changes. I believe the vaccine caused that. If the vet knew we feed the dog like we eat, they would die. He stopped eating the food we had been making for years & will only eat burger, cheese, bacon and pork rinds. We didn’t set out for him to be carnivore like us. Oh well we don’t miss cooking and bagging his food. I’m sure he would love a bone😀
Thanks. The vaccines for dogs make no sense to me. Why is a 5 pound dog getting the same vaccine as a 50 pound dog? I think we really need to look at vaccines for animals next and see if they’re causing more harm than good.
Absolutely! They only make sense from a financial perspective for vets & pharma. Yes, hopefully that’s next. Also testing on animals should not be allowed. By the way if your skin care products are sold in china they are most definitely tested on animals. They don’t care about their people and we know how they feel about animals. My mom & grandma went to china in 88. They talked about the dogs and cats in cages waiting to be cooked by the street food vendors. I think I would booked my return flight early. Because our dog had a bad reaction to rabies it’s not in-forced. Decades ago our new kitten almost died after getting rabies vax. She was in vet hospital several days. It pisses me off if I adopt a cat or dog from a rescue group, etc they are fully vaccinated. I grew in the 70s we had several stray dogs over the years and one cat. We didn’t worry about them being vaccinated. The only time the cat went to the vet was spayed after two litters & when she got sick from old age. I drove her myself in my early twenties. I had that cat since I was nine. The vet asked if I wanted to bury or her they take care of it. They put dead pets in a garbage bag and sent to the landfill. As ai always say, I’ve never trusted the government even though I wasn’t fully aware way back then. The veterinary system doesn’t care about you or her pets. Nothing but a money racket. Unfortunately we have to deal with them if the dog gets sick. My husband and I have had my daughter’s dog almost a year. He won’t sleep all night with them and has emotional issues after my first grandchild was born. He’s jealous. After she got pregnant second time we took over. I love him but I never want responsibility of a pet again. We both do everything we can for him. He’s almost totally blind. Some days he eats really good other days he won’t eat and throws up after an having empty stomach too long. Although, I tell my husband if he goes first I’ll have a house full of cats😀 Hope all goes well with your dog. I saw the antler comment, great tip. Don’t know why I didn’t think of this. My husband hunts deer & looks for antlers in the winter. Animals chew those up. Probably good healthy stuff in them. I think you can buy them online.
Oh, that’s nice that that dog stayed in your family. They’re like babies they do get jealous when there’s another sibling.
Oh yeah especially Dachshunds. That’s the only type dog I know. They never stop being a puppy. We have treated our pets like they were our children. Our first dog lived almost twelve years and we never took a family vacation, together. We don’t feel like we missed out. That dog was our life! She & I went on trips with my mom, brother & nephew. Hubby kept the dog. Cats are easy you can leave for a while. I’m thankful we are able to do this. I know my daughter misses him, but she knows her kids are here priority now. I’d put him to sleep before I sent him to live with strangers. I understand sometimes people are met with impossible situations and have to give up their pets. Years ago I followed Elvis the dachshund, now it’s ernie n elvis the dachshunds on instagram. Elvis became paralyzed and about the same time his owners had a new baby. They kicked him outside and some how this man & women adopted him. I understand your child should always come first. But this was evil, in my opinion. Elvis has doggie wheels and an Elvis license plate. I don’t know these people, live in UK. They have given him a great life.
Did you ever see that one superbowl commercial with all the dachshunds? I this it was a mustard commercial.

Recently thrifting accounts have popped up on my instagram feed. They are buying discarded tarnished silver at the thrift stores and selling it. One guy even bought bracelets with plastic & silver beads. I might just have to go thrifting.
Watch out for plated stuff,it needs to say sterling on it and it's only 90% silver.
It's worth having but, dealers won't buy it now, cause the refinery are only buying .999 silver. Don't forget coin roll hunting.

Thanks for the tip. I go thrifting occasionally and have never seen silver. I have some old silverware that my grandma got by sending in something from food boxes. It’s old, I doubt it’s quality silver but it has tarnished. I thought about getting a ring made. Also have an entire bag of her silver dollars that are old. They are in the gun safe for the grandkids.
Does anyone else feel that the attempts at pushing the price down just seems a bit ... lacking energy 🤣
