So the new deal is ...
1) Denmark has to keep paying the population of Greenland $600 million per year.
2) USA gets sovereignty over whichever parts we want for US military bases
3) USA gets mineral rights
4) China and Russia aren't allowed in Greenland
5) Cost $0.00

Any sauce?
This. I heard Trump say last night something like "we got the land we needed". But this is almost too good to be true.
I will wait to see what Carney and Macron and Newscum have to say. (Extreme sarc)
"The avalanche has already begun. It is too late for the pebbles to vote."
A piece of advice worth remembering. Thank you
It's a line from Babylon 5, FWIW
B5 is a highly underrated, excellently written and acted SciFi TV show. Be warned that the first season is slow - it's not your typical TV. It's a 5 year story arc planned before the even the pilot was aired.

π¨π¨π¨ Details have started to emerge about the US "purchase" of Greenland. It wasnβt exactly a purchase, but it was an EXCELLENT deal that includes:
Denmark must continue paying the Greenland population 600 million dollars per year.
The US gains sovereignty over any parts it wants for American military bases.
The US will have access to the entire Arctic Circle.
The US obtains the mineral exploration rights.
China and Russia are not permitted to enter Greenland.
The US will continue to be part of NATO in exchange for all of this.
More details are expected to be released soon by Marco Rubio.
I will still wait for the official sauce. But for the record, I called it as Shipping Lanes, lets see if thats what it is.
Understood bb...I had fallen asleep and didn't see your question for a while...kek! π΄
This is all I could find for now. Marco is supposed to release the details when finalized.

Trump confirmed here that US won't be paying anything!

Wow! Thank YOU bb! I have Maria's segments on DVR, but haven't watched them yet.
POTUS is Master Deal Maker. β¨
You are the Bringer of Sauce! β¨οΈπͺ
I wondered if staying in NATO was the bargaining chip. Brilliant.
If what they are saying is true, and we start real trade with Russia, those shipping lanes will be short and profitable.
That's a great point. I never thought of that.
So the US will continue to be a part of NATO as a part of this deal... but does that mean that the US can pay the "Fair European Share", that is to say, nothing, and let the other members of NATO cover the payment?
European nations went for decades without paying their share, and hoisting the cost onto the US. That would seem to set a precedent that Trump could exploit.
I mean I guess it's good π I wanted the whole thing. Owning the territory of Greenland is a good use of my tax dollars. This is just underwhelming. Like yes it's a okay deal but I wanted the full flex of USA sticking it to Europe and NATO
It is a bit of a let down but saving $700 billion is a good thing. Maybe this is what Trump wanted all along? Art of the Deal.
Yes but only because that's what Trump said a hundred times
Yeah I just wanted him to get it because of how much he talked about it in the media. Could you imagine how Europeans would have lost their minds if he was able to formally acquisition of the territory
I'm not writing that off yet
He repeatedly emphasized ownership, title, and absolute control as being necessary for our national security - then how could anything less be sufficient? This isn't a case of doing the big ask and then settling for something less which is what you really wanted all along. He wants to add the territory to the United States, like US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Guam, etc. OWNERSHIP.
Look at the moment it says mustard bases, so if we just set up say 200 military bases even in remote and uninhabitable areas we effectively took over the island. They didn't say- per the framework yet -what the limitations are. Then once we have enough troops we just annex it at no cost. Denmark really should have taken the $700B and just run. Their GDP is like $140B only
It's not the worst. We can basically do whatever we want and don't have to give them any benefits of being US citizens or risk them importing a billion third worlders and backdooring them into the US.
Yeah I guess but who would want to live in that frozen tundra. It's just i wanted Trump to get everything he demanded in the media. It would have sent the libtards into a frenzy
What comes to mind for me is the 600 million Denmark will need to give to Greenland every year. IMO there may still be some different path in the future. I wouldn't doubt we own Greenland some day.
Agreed
Excellent deal. Everything we wanted without any headaches. Hopefully the mineral rights include the off shore oil. Maybe later we get ownership, but this is perfect for now. And the democrats canβt block the money, because the cost is $0.
I hope this is favorable for the Inuit. Seeing trade with the US, Denmark not controlling the fishing hauls and helping the Greenland economy so that the Inuit prosper would be great.
Praying for this also! ππ€
Lol sounds like Trump got every single thing he wanted for free. Cost us nothing lol
I like the sound of mineral rights....have gold pan will travel...only problem the mining season is shorter then Alaska's.

I can just see the Danish Guy from Austin Powers surreptitiously eatting flakes of skin..
If Denmark was smart they would just give us Greenland rather than this deal lol
Not the same as ownership and title
I called this on an earlier post - Greenland is about exclusive mineral rights - "Defense" is the excuse to get the mineral rights under U.S. control. Not that we won't up the military presence in Greenland, I'm sure we will. The threat of taking Greenland for defense did not make sense to me because the U.S. already had that ability under the agreement with Denmark signed in 1951. Getting the mineral rights exclusive was the main goal.

I think this X post is premature, and I say that despite liking and following that account.
This does have all the looks of a classic Trump "Make the big ask, compromise and get what you wanted all along" type of deal.
But there's so little we know about the framework that's been tentatively agreed upon. This deserves a wait and see attitude before we celebrate.

That isn't a good deal. A good deal would be to adopt Greenland as a new State within our Constitutional Republic and allowing their people to become American citizens with all the rights and protections afforded to citizens.
The people of Greenland are getting the short end of this deal.
