Once I was in this position out of state to attend a family event, and I received two conflicting orders: You're excused (sr. officer, out of coc), and you're expected (jr. officer, in coc). Because the in coc jr said go, I went. I cut everything short, flew home, drove three hundred miles to base (long story) and ... why are you here? I was told to be here. Well not by me, I excused you. But my immediate officer said go so I wsent. I spent the rest of the weekend bouncing back and forth being scolded for showing up when excused by sr, and being scolded for (accidentally) talking to sr. before talking to jr. And thus shaped my approach to corporate management structures: y'all are f'ing retards at every level. Anyway ...
