Our state is so screwed up and corrupt. And now Roy Cooper will be back as a senator. He was also corrupt and sucked up to Joe Biden. Disgusting. We have tried to get rid of open primaries.
I feel you. Virginian here. They keep saying we are a solid blue state. We are not! More closer to 50%, give or take a few % points back and forth. Lots of corruption here as well. We are now trying to not lose our representation in the House with an illegal gerrymandering that will take us from a 6D-5R representation to a 10D-1R representation and will most certainly affect the Republican majority we now have in the House of Representatives. Not to mention all the ridiculous new taxes that they are proposing after they just gave themselves a nearly 300% pay raise, and refusing to cooperate with ICE with illegal murderers! It is maddening.
I have been watching that - terrible situation. I would want to move if I were you. Spanberger is a hideous liberal and tried to hide it before the election. Then, out of the gate, she lowered the boom with all her proclamations. Hang tough - get your friends to vote if at all possible.

The GOP has been infiltrated and compromised. It has been for years, and nothing has ever been done to fix that. There is a party today that is what the GOP used to be, that party is the Constitution Party, but it is ignored because people have been brainwashed into a 2-party system that excludes those not in the "Club".
That is not what the founders of our Constitutional Republic intended.
I went to vote in the primaries in Texas. As you sign in to get your paper work you go through a series of questions. One of those questions you pick the parties ballot that you want to vote on. I am a Republican, but nothing in the system would stop me from choosing the Democrat ballot. That needs to change.
Open primaries, ranked voting (1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice for the same spot), paper ballots, counting ballots after election day, no i.d. to vote, electronic voting without a verifiable paper trail are all not in the constitution, and have never been tested before rollout. All these NEW aspects of how to do what we have done for 250 years of voting, need to be disposed of post haste. They all obfuscate the truth.

Also I was told tit is up to the parties to close the primary. The Republican party doesn't want to close the primaries bc they don't want to upset the unaffiliated voters (the biggest registration numbers above both parties) bc they tend to vote for the GOP.
The context on this doesn't make it AS bad. In this specific district, the GOP often doesn't run anyone, meaning the democrat, more often than not, runs unopposed. So while it sucks regardless because of the spineless incompetent GOP, its not like this was a seat anyone had any hopes for until the mass cleanup happens anyway given most assumed it would be another uncontested election.
Still this SHOULD NOT be a thing, but the context softens this specific case considerably.
Maybe the GOP should run someone who appeals to the electorate and that will at least work with the conservatives. We don’t need to spend much, just run someone who’s willing to do the legwork and is reputable. Force the Dems to spend $$ and resources. Force the Dems to earn the win, instead of just letting them have their puppet installed unopposed.
