Just Say No to AI-creativity aids?
It's worth consideration, I guess. We'll see if other researchers find similar outcomes.

BREAKING: If you've used ChatGPT for writing or brainstorming in the last 6 months, your creative ability may already be permanently damaged.
A controlled experiment just proved the effect doesn't reverse when you stop using it.
3,302 creative ideas. 61 people. 30 days of tracking.
Researchers split students into two groups. Half used ChatGPT for creative tasks. Half worked alone. For five days, the ChatGPT group outperformed on every metric. Higher scores. More ideas. Better output. AI was making them better.
Then day 7. ChatGPT removed. Every creativity gain vanished overnight. Crashed to baseline. Zero lasting improvement.
But that's not the bad part.
ChatGPT users' ideas became increasingly identical to each other over time. Same content. Same structure. Same phrasing. The researchers called it homogenization. Everyone using ChatGPT started producing the same ideas wearing different clothes.
When ChatGPT was removed, the creativity boost disappeared -- but the homogenization stayed. 30 days later, same result. Their creative range had been permanently compressed.
Five days of use. Permanent damage 30 days later.
A separate trial confirmed it. 120 students. 45-day surprise test. ChatGPT users scored 57.5%. Traditional learners scored 68.5%. AI reduces cognitive effort. Less effort means weaker encoding. Weaker encoding means less creative raw material.
You're not renting a productivity boost. You're financing it with your originality.
The interest rate is permanent.
Sounds like nonsense , idk why you’d use chat gpt for creative ideas but maybe tha weren’t creative to begin with. I just yell slurs at mine all day . Sometimes it feels like I get more creative with them . lol
Downvoted OP because it sounds like AI.
In the work environment don't use it for creativity, use it for recall and performing tasks at scale.
Huge Email inbox with lots of unread emails after a vacation? /check email agent.
Lots of meeting minutes over long term that is tough to sort and reference? /check use an agent to sift your minutes for context for quick searchability and recall.
Need to write some scripts for repetitive tasks /check Just tell the agent what you need and work with it to perfect your script.
Originality though, that's what we're for.
The dangers are offloading critical thought, creativity, and managerial decisions like sorting resumes or making personnel decisions that require empathy and intuition. If you have to nuance the data to really see an employees contribution and output, that will get lost on an AI. It can't detect the force multipliers on your team whose value is in unreported help provided to others to complete their tasks. AI will likely flag them as unproductive and mark them for downsizing. It also weighs certain job roles more than others unless explicitly prompted otherwise.
Some food for thought.
Exactly using a wrench as a hammer won’t help you hammer better after.
Good comments.
I use AI mostly like I used Google search before. Sometimes I write something in one language and ask for a translation to another language sounding like native speaker. It helps a lot. But still I correct and pin it to the desired point. I feel enriched by this procedure, as I learn a lot from it.
THIS, I don't think enough people get it that AI (as presented in the public form we all see) is simply a new tool that functionally replaces things like internet searches. That's it, it helps you gather and summarize vast amounts of information in seconds. And if you ask for sources and double check them yourself, what previously would've taken days of self research now takes a few hours at most WITH the double checking to make sure its actually correct and factual.
The AGI and ASI that the tech bros keep talking about is a pipe dream, but the REAL use of this "generalized AI" is a FAR more efficient search engine and research agent.
I have absolutely no creative ability. Using chat gpt i find myself wanting to write more on my own. Just be mindful when you use it and pay attention to what it generates. I tend to retype what it generates, making minor changes along the way and that helps me internalize what it’s generating.
You get what you put in. Garbage in garbage out.
I don't use ChatGTP or other AI for creative writing but I'm using Brave's AI often to gather and summarize reference material -- what would take me 15-45 minutes manually gets done in literally a SECOND or two.
For just one example, here's Brave's AI on the subject of Loyal Wingman Drones; as always with Brave, a long list of links follows the text (at the link directly below)
https://search.brave.com/search?q=loyal+wingman+drones&source=desktop&summary=1&conversation=08c98e431f471198afd096147a6d19168343
Bullshit. It's just another tool, nothing more. It takes creativity to even use them effectively, otherwise they spit out nonsense. You have to lead them like a toddler, or a pet on a leash because if they're left up to themselves, they're worthless.
Artificial Intelligence induces artificial intelligence.
Nope, just as proficient at getting into trouble in new and creative ways.
HIGHLY IRONIC THAT THIS MESSAGE USED AI.
I miss real text.
Did it?
I don't see any evidence of that . . . but perhaps I missed something. The X post is written in the compact, punchy style that has been common for years now. MIGHT be AI written; might not.
Do you see evidence of AI usage here?
A lot of it!
Classic AI work - this is extremely common output for AI. Short, similar sentences.
"You're not X, you're Y" - another classic AI output.
Put this into any AI detector. It is 100% AI generated.
Same cadence as Eko posts...
Just an observation...
Interesting!

0% of text is likely AI
It says 100% AI for me on both of those
Well, shit . . . I don't know what to say.
Is that because you’re using AI too much? 😆👍
Kek
LOL!
I'm gonna call bullcrap. The phrasing here is off. If they were using an AI for 100% of their "creative endeavors" then I can believe it. People with NO creative mind will end up like this. But if you're simply using it as a research/idea spit baller, then it DOES actually help.
That's the key, if you want the AI to do EVERYTHING for you, then of course you'll end up sounding like an AI in all of your "creative endeavors". If you're just using it for broad ideas, concepts, overviews, or spit balling ideas that you THEN develop yourself, then it has little effect on you beyond cutting down research and idea development time
I fired its ass after downloading it for a couple of hours. We got into it big time with its liberal programming. It was one fight after another.
