The remaining lineup is heavy on nostalgia hits, which matches the "state fair" vibe organizers were going for.
a competing "Power to the People Festival" announced by Tom Morello and others (Springsteen, Foo Fighters, etc.) as a counter-event.
So, the "state fair" vibe is to book washed up acts that were popular 30 or 40 years ago? I guess that is nostalgic. They must be expecting an older crowd...

More than half of the washed up has-beens publicly bailing out right after the lineup was announced. How is this good optics for the 250 celebration? Is this the best they can do?

Funny story on that. Allegedly they didn’t lip sync because they couldn’t sing, but because their label demanded it, and the reason they got publicly shamed was for trying to go around their label in order to actually sing. The one that died did so shortly after trying to build a career outside of MV. I don’t remember where I heard this, so may want to verify, but go figure, if true, and it definitely seems to line up with [their] typical method of operation.
I am definitely not an expert on state fairs - I have only been to a few of them. The performers were indeed behind the times, but still fairly well known (think of the bands you hear on classic rock radio stations). I guess I was expecting the national 250 celebration to be a step up... but it is no big deal in any event.
Now that 5 of the 9 "headliners" have bailed out, I wonder who they will get as replacements on such short notice...
Any pop music of the past 20 years truly sucks, so having the "has been" bands would at least provide some quality. The saturation of "rap" music makes disco seem good by comparison :)
With a $45 million net worth and 15-45 shows a year plus an annual Christmas show, I imagine she'll manage an american life. I personally don't know her or listen to that kind of music but I doubt she's very cool anyway. Good riddance.
She peaked in her career 20? years ago...She has ego and bad advice left amongst her trophies...She could've had another career resurgence and fan base renewal. I understand Artists are getting “the yips” having to do with their performance on Wednesday, so I am thinking about bringing the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World, the man who gets much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime, and he does so without a guitar, the man who loves our Country more than anyone else, and the man who some say is the Greatest President in History (THE GOAT!), DONALD J. TRUMP, to take the place of these highly paid, Third Rate “Artists,” and give a major speech, rallying the Country forward like I have done ever since being President! Two years ago, the United States was DEAD. Now we have the “HOTTEST” Country anywhere in the World. I don’t want so-called “Artists” that get paid far too much money, who aren’t happy. I only want to be surrounded by Happy People, Smart People, Successful People, and People that know how to WIN.
