I've read years ago that this particular country, Qatar, influenced schools in Texas with influx of money to administrations. Trump's plane was a "donation" that was apparently compromised while DJT was at NATO in Turkey. Who here believes either of those countries is an ally of the USA?

That's a fine oath but native citizens do not have to take it. What if it makes no difference to the foreign country? Under those conditions, dual citizenship becomes effectively an unlimited visa to the foreign country. The oath doesn't require you to forfeit any foreign privileges or permissions.
All the famous espionage cases were with sole citizens. Everybody likes to assume a problem for which there is no evidence.

I always was under the impression that countries like Britain allowed their citizens to have dual citizenship (mostly as a leftover from colonial days when no one of a good family would consider giving up citizens nship to take a post in a colony) but that the US did not recognize dual citizenship even if your home country did not revoke it when you became a citizen of the US. (I bet piece that the US still will refund your citizen status if you become a citizen of another country like Clooney or Rosie.
But for incoming legal immigrants there are rules that say you must renounce your citizenship to your home country, however AI says that SCotUS has.undermined these rules over the years.
Perhaps it is time for the Legislature to do something about it.

Government is not to blame for the flaming mess it has become. "We" are. I frame "We" as collectively, since none of us were around when the people stopped paying attention and holding government accountable to the limits of delegated power.
That being said, we all have the ability to turn it around today. It is fine and dandy to hope government will fix itself, but it is foolish to believe it will do it without the might and weight of the non-government patriots that government was instituted to serve.
If you want to know who is responsible for fixing this mess and forcing government back to operating 100% within its limited charter, you just need to look into a mirror.
Yes, you are only 1 man or woman. So what? We live in an age of instant communication. Before the internet patriots were able to form highly effective grassroots movements that were highly effective. How much better can it be today, if we just started organizing and forcing the positive changes required? Not separately from those in government with the same goals, but in full support of them, not just by hoping they are successful.
Liberty and freedom come at a cost. That is an eternal truth. Unfortunately, too many Americans today want that liberty and freedom, but they want others to pay the price. That price can be in blood and lives, and has often been so, but it can also be time, labor, treasure, or anything else you can give to the cause. Not just typing on a keyboard.

You might be old enough to not need to worry about coming years, but are your children? Their children? Our future posterity?

Many people are mute before falsehood or folly, from bashfulness or embarrassment. Or a desire not to "upset the applecart" in social settings. This requires adjusting one's own attitude, away from self-negation to being a warrior for truth (or a servant of God, as I like to understand it). Don't mistake me. I don't mean for people to be needlessly blatant and forego tactfulness. But tact should not lead one into silence. The curse of abortion is such a topic. Polite but firm disagreement can be disarming to a person assumed to the arrogance of the high position.

I still don't think that dual citizenship should be allowed. Let them be resident aliens, if necessary, but I don't believe that people can be subject to the jurisdiction of two nations without compromising their loyalty to one of them.
It made sense for the British Empire because the dual citizenship included England and a colony. This was a means of setting Britons and their offspring ahead of the natives of their colonies. For hostile countries it makes absolutely no sense and would not have been granted.
The history of espionage in this country indicates there is no deterrence of spies having sole U.S. citizenship. That is absolutely no guarantee of loyalty. And it is not a matter of "loyalty" but of obligation under oath and signature. We commonly share classified matter with foreign nationals under treaty arrangements and complementary investigation protocols. (Where there could be a conflict of interest, there would be no Need to Know.) Attorneys have many clients, and they are loyal to each one. Has that ever been a problem?

In Mexico there is a whole list of jobs that you cannot hold if you are not a natural born citizen,. Government jobs are high in that list.

Incidentally, I did a little looking into the question of dual citizenship regarding Zambia, where I am thinking of spending a good part of the rest of my life. It turns out they welcome dual citizenship (so long as the other country does not prevent it). But...they require a residency of at least 5 years. (This would be dual citizenship by virtue of marriage to a national.) So, it sounds easy on paper, but turns out not to be so easy in practice. Five years continuous....or put together in pieces? It makes me wonder where these other dual citizenships are from and what their requirements are.
I have a cousin with dual birthright citizenship; her mother (my paternal aunt) was American and her father was French, and she was born in France. So, she comes and goes without hindrance, living here now that her parents have passed away and my branch of the family is the closest she has left. She has delved into the American family's history to a tremendous degree. I can't imagine how her dual citizenship could cause any problem for anyone else.

There are plenty of born Americans who are not dedicated to America, nor are trying to make America strong (far too many, as we see in the Democratic party). I don't see that issue pointing exclusively to dual citizenship.
Do dual citizens have the right to dispose of their income as they see fit? Or are their spending habits to be dictated by the government? (The remittance issue is related to illegals.) Do Congressional staff members hire foreign nationals (or anybody, for that matter)? I think that is going astray from the topic. I don't agree with foreign nationals on any Congressional staff, but we were talking of dual citizens. Do you have trouble with native citizen Communists who are on Congressional staffs? I surely do. The problem doesn't seem to relate to dual citizenship.

I'm just trying to unwrap the onion. It seems there is a lot of unconnected baggage associated with this subject. I didn't have any problem with my security clearances when I married my wife, a foreign national.

Either you are a Citizen and willing to put your life on line for the country. Or at least stand up for it, or you are a civilian. A sheep who relies on others to protect them. Citizenship is not a medal of honor; it is an acceptance of sovereign jurisdiction. Plenty of low-lifes get to be citizens. It's just part of the distribution of human types. We don't have different levels of citizenship. To that extent, the American tradition has been egalitarianism. If people commit insurrection and treason, those are crimes they can be charged with, tried, and sentenced for. No matter who they are.
