My father's advice was to always be a glazier.

His joke was that when times are good, people build and construction needs windows. When times are bad, people drink and they break windows. Broken windows mean money for the board up (with your company's logo on the plywood of course) and money from fixing the windows and doors for businesses.

I don't even need to mention hurricanes, tornados, hailstorms...it's always good to be a glazier. e even made money during COVID (when we were allowed to stay open) because everyone wanted sneezeguards. Guess who had a lot of plexiglass in storage? We did. :)

There is currently a shortage of glaziers and a lot of small businesses would love to train you and even get you into the union where certain jobs can get you a very nice hourly rate. You can be a union glazier in a non-union shop. The investment in the appreticeship is worth it.

I think the companies that are right sizing during this period of contraction are the ones that will survive. You're making all the right moves.

If you need it, it is wayy better to get a loan from your 401k than it is to withdraw. Then you are paying yourself back and avoiding penalties. The interest on a 401k loan is much cheaper than any credit card out there.

It's amazing to me how many people don't live within their means and go into debt for stupid shit. One year we went trick or treating in a neighborhood where house prices were ridiculously high and all these people who had just bought their houses had no furniture and were sitting indoors on lawn chairs (more than one house). I wanted to give back the snickers bar they gave us.

Some things that helped us to save money when times were tight:

  • The book "Dining on a Dime" really shows how to shop for deals and to make good family meals for pennies. It can really bring down your $500 grocery bill which seems pretty high.: https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=31547087989

  • The book "Tightwad Gazette" goes the extra mile for serious extremely frugal ways to save money while raising a family: https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=30834325092

  • Used book stores - they sell older model gaming systems and games as well as books

  • Review the classifieds or craigslist for free items - then see if you can renovate it or turn it into something someone would buy - an example of this would be using pallet wood to make an adirondack chair or old food plastic drums that could be made into a rain collection system. Another idea is finding large amounts of old wires and harvest the copper out of it to sell it to a scrap metal center. Lots of side hustles to get that 20, 40, 100 bucks that you need for rent / mortgage. Grabbing processor chips out of old washing machines could also be pretty profiable. https://www.scrapmetalbuyers.com/current-prices

  • Taking on side jobs - there is always some job that someone wants to pay someone else to do. Between food delivery, rideshares, lawnmowing, leaf raking, snow shoveling, the money is out there.

It's worth watching the Slave Princess documentary by Liz Crokin. https://www.slaveprincess.com/

She talks about the hired guns who work for TMZ, post comments on Daily Mail and gossip magazines. How they trap people into conservatorships and make these actors slaves to their handlers. It's how they got Nicole Kidman to eat bugs (ummm soo good) on camera. When you defy your handlers you will be accused of being a rapist, a child diddler, and they will try to get you committed to a psychiatric facility like Kanye and Britney. Hollywood is not a happy place.

Was the fucking fireball from the crash stealth too? How about the noise as it crashed into the dirt?

This whole thing is such planet bullshit.

I liken this to the Vatican telling Catholics to do something and everyone ignoring the Vatican because through bureaucracy it has actually become evil.

Watch this space where having Mormon Inc attack Tim Ballard actually works to Tim Ballard's benefit.

No wonder the Mormon church started up with this whole "we don't know Tim Ballard" bullshit.

Yep. Cadet Squadron 19 had different symbols. I think it was first Playboy 19, then in the mid 70s they got the right to use Starship 19 from Gene Roddenberry, then in 1992 they became Wolverine 19. It looks like in 2023 they went back to Starship 19.

https://www.usafa.edu/squadron-19-returns-to-the-starship/

19 has historically been a relaxed squadron (doesn't beat on their freshmen) and it has also been called "Recline 19". Not like Mach One or Tiger Ten where they have a more harsh approach to freshman.

I think she married her husband right out of high school - she may be grown in many ways but still stupid in others. We're all human.

In her job and where she is at it's likely really lonely for her. He must have said and did all the right things.

People forget that a sizeable percentage of Trump supporters came from Bernie Sanders former fan base.

They saw the hypocrisy of the DNC after Donna Brazile stole the nomination from Bernie. They opened their ears and listened to what Trump had to say and never looked back.

Now multiply that by union members, the black community and suburban mothers who are waking up from the programming.

It's getting to the point where there isn't enough fraud for the DNC to win at all.

The quickest fix is to levy heavy fines (or put out of business) any business using illegal labor. They're only coming here because the human traffickers line up work for them with construction companies. They used to do I-9 checks to verify citizenship, they stopped doing it. Bring that back, dry up the income, punish the businesses that basically enabled human trafficking and modern day slave labor and people will magically find their way someplace else.

Yes. DC suburbs has cities where the demographics have changed drastically in the past 10 years. Like going from 25 percent to 60 percent Hispanic. That doesn't happen naturally. That had help.

If you go to SAM.gov you can see the request for proposals (RFP) posted for government contractors where it explains the work being done by DTRA under the BTRP / CTRIC II projects. Black and Veatch, etc. They hire people out of the DC suburbs. All out there in the open.

Moonquakes are caused by the gravitational pull from Earth or a meteoroid hitting it. The moon is surprisingly stable.
