I never comment, only lurk, but have studied Nixon quite extensively over the years. Two significant things stand out: 1) he was a man of extreme religious conviction (Quaker), and 2) he always said he never did anything immoral when he was President. If we accept #2 based on #1 being true, then this aligns with my own conclusion that whatever happened in the Watergate scandal MIGHT have been illegal (but probably not), but surely wasn't anything to undermine the integrity of the office of the President, nor go against the country. Nixon resigned to maintain the dignity of the office, and essentially fell on the sword to keep the country from most likely going into another civil war.
That's what a normal person does, yes. If you have a platform and a modicum of celebrity and you are trying to change opinions, why not talk about it a lot? At least he's converting to Christianity and not spewing Satanic lyrics while flying around on a fucking jet telling people to stop polluting the world.
