I have had this debate with vax believers over and over. They are so stuck in their little mockingbird world that they refuse to see/hear facts. One of my co-workers is telling me to just get the jab to protect my job. He lives on CNN/CBS and won't hear anything outside of their talking points. He says he understands my "reticence" but tells me to take the politics out of it in the same breath. When I offer studies and data, he tells me it's incorrect, even when it comes straight from CDC, NIH, FDA and WHO.
Some people will be left behind. Sadly, he will be one of them.

Thanks u/gobby but I couldn't download. It won't help. The company is against the mandates but the government is writing the terms into all contracts. Since we do a billion dollars a year with the Fed, they aren't going to jeopardize that for a handful of people who have sense.
I saw an article that they are projecting $700 per pill. IVM? $30 per perscription. Don't tell me it's not about the money.

This has been my field for 25 years. I can't go to another company because they're all in the same boat. My skills don't translate into other areas very well and I will not be able to find anything more than an entry level spot somewhere. That ain't gonna pay the bills so everything I have worked all my life for will be lost. Can't touch my 401K for another year. Caring for my 80-something mother and helpng my daughter keep her roof over her head for my grandson's sake. I see life in my comfy little bubble collapsing by the new year.

Good luck fren! I've asked questions because I have worked from home since I joined the company over a decade ago. I've only been in the office as a courtesy less than 10 times in that 10+ years. I am no threat to my colleagues. That means nothing to Pedo Joe though.
I know my immediate team will fight for me because I have a lot of knowledge that can't be replicated by anyone. But their opinion means nothing if the company does not want to help me. A company who I helped grow into a $1B organization.
I guarantee, my company laptop will be wiped clean before I turn it in. They will get no benefit of all my work if they let me go. I know how much $$ they'll lose.

If the republicans let the reconciliation bill pass the Senate, is all a moot point if he works for a company with more than 100 employees. I'm in the same boat. When I joined my company 12 years ago, I began my work from home career. I have been in the office less than 10 times over that time (none of those visits were necessary to attend in person, just preferred).
If the mandate passes, I will be fired because according to the government, I will be "a danger to the workplace", even though I am two states away. I could try and get a religious or medical exemption but I am as disinterested in playing that game as I am in getting the jab. I will lose everything I have within months because I have no savings due to unforseen life events (my mother will have to move to my sister's, my home will be foreclosed on, my car repossesed) but this is the hill I chose to die on.
Truly evil. And if this passes, I am out of work.
Not going to make a difference if you work for a multi-state 100+ employer. I work from home and have done for over a decade with the same company. They are prepping for the mandate and I am prepping to lose my job.
Sadly, I am caring for my elderly mother. She is going to have to move with me to a much smaller, crappier house. I had this one built for her but can't carry the mortgage if I'm out of work.
