There are a few things that make me wary of this program, such as: 1) the IRS is being used to file the claim and enroll the children, 2) Trump accounts are being managed by Robinhood. I can see people choosing to enroll to get the free $1k if their child qualifies and meets the limited criteria for the $1k. What really throws me off is the IRS aspect of the equation; yes, I can see where they will eventually have an External Revenue System, but it seems weird to me that you can claim your Trump account for a dependent child if you file your taxes. IF you file taxes. And if you choose not to file taxes, then you still need to fill out a form with the IRS and you are back on their radar, supporting a system of illegal taxation for free money for your child who is now a part of the taxation system. Maybe I am being paranoid, but then again, paranoia has saved me from a lot of heart ache over the last few years. It will be interesting to see what happens with this program as time goes by.
