Remember hearing about Breonna Taylor, the black female former EMT that was shot and killed when police served a warrant at her place? That was here in Louisville. That happened in March of 2020 but protests/riots didn't start here till after George Floyd.
I haven't gotten updated numbers on my hometown's homicide numbers in a few days (Louisville KY) but last I heard we were at 170. The record we set last yr was 173. If Kyle walks i expect more riots here (which had dropped off this summer) but it wouldn't take much to rile them up again. Our Dem mayor and Dem state gov are covid fearing dipshits.
I had never used Zoom until last yr when I was doing online coding classes. Not too terribly fond of it and honestly don't get the appeal. We use Teams at my current work and after being at this place for just a few months, I much prefer it to Zoom.
I get what you're saying. As a metalhead we're kinda used to being called demonic, Satanic (and yea we kinda brought it on ourselves at some points) but there's been hard rock/metal festivals all year. Nothing even close to this sort of thing happening at any one of those. What is it about THIS Astroworld event at this time that the crazies come out of the woodwork? Like you, I find the narrative really odd, to put it mildly.
I'm also interested as to why it happened now at this particular concert. Disclaimer: not much on rap, more of a metalhead and we've had more than a few hard rock/metal festivals this year. There was some drama at one of them, Blue Ridge Rock Festival in Danville, VA in early Sept but the worst that got was some ppl jumping from GA to VIP areas and issues with traffic getting in/parking. Nothing even close to what we saw at Astroworld.
it's all good. I'm a little biased as I'm a metalhead at heart but it just seems like the crazy shit happens at rap festivals. Here's a list from Loudwire (somehow Louder than Life didn't make the list) to give you an idea.
Sorry friend, dropping the BS flag here. There's been festivals all year. Nothing even CLOSE to what happened at Astroworld happened at the other shows. Husband and I were at Louder than Life (hard rock/metal) festival in late Sept and we saw ONE person passed out and pulled from the crowd over the course of FOUR days.
Doubtful. We were at Louder than Life (4 day hard rock/metal festival in Louisville KY) in late Sept. had to show a vax card or a negative Covid test within 72 hrs. Didn't have anything even close to what happened at Astroworld. we saw one person passed out, security got them out and to the med tent quickly. that was the worst we saw the entire weekend.
Don't get why it was this festvial, there's been quite a few festivals already this yr. Husband and I were at Louder than Life in late Sept, a 4 day hard rock/metal festival in Louisville KY. Can count on one hand the amount of people we saw were hurt (one was a young one that was out cold from what we were later told was a seizure) Had to show a vax card or a negative Covid test within 72 hrs in order to get in.
after we got over Covid, my husband called it (Covid) "Flu with extra seasoning" He got the worst of it, 103° fevers and a horrid cough, couldn't keep anything down. Got him some prescrip meds for cough and nausea, other than that it was a lot of Dayquil/Nyquil, Gatorade and soup. Only lost sense of smell for a few days. By the end of quarantine, I was practically climbing the walls out of boredom ready to go back to work.
My husband called covid19 "flu with extra seasoning" we got vaxxed early on (yea I know, hindsight is 20/20) had covid last month and the strongest drug either one of us took was prescrip meds for cough and nausea. Other than that it was chicken soup, Gatorade and Dayquil/Nyquil..
During their set at Louder than Life (music festival in Louisville KY Sept 23-26) he led the crowd in a FUCK JOE BIDEN chant while wearing an Impeach Biden hat. Was QUITE loud :) The guitar he was holding at the time also had a FUCK NEWSOM sticker on it. Good times.
Youngest son was 17 during the 2016 election. Couple of days after the election, he told me, "mom you should have seen the Hillary supporters online when they realized she was losing, it was GLORIOUS" not all of our youth is lost :)
Local news (Louisville KY) just did a story last night on the shortage of 911 operators. We're currently short 16 calltakers and 26 dispatchers. Source they just raised the starting pay to $20/hr while in training, goes up to at least $21/hr for calltaking ($24/hr for dispatch) They're currently working 12 hr shifts, during the height of the BLM/Breonna Taylor protests/riots they were working 16s, practically living in the call center, sleeping in the quiet rooms (hubs worked there until last yr, left for a smaller city 911/dispatch and is MUCH happier) No mention of vax mandate on last night's report but ppl are tired of getting paid shit to work long ass hrs and get verbally abused when trying to help the person on the other line. You add a vax mandate to that and yea, those shortages are gonna get worse.
Welp, we'll see if that starts up the riots again (Breonna Taylor, a black female former EMT died here in March 2020 when police served a warrant at her place. Oddly enough the protests/riots didn't start till after George Floyd) it was pretty bad here for a while but seemed to slow way down this summer.
