More than anything else, I think the plan to use Grok AI was impeded by the difficulty in integrating too many systems with very different taxonomies and legacy fields, and that it couldn't really be articulated legally what they were looking for doing so. Elon alluded to this when he was talking about the need to update all the systems with a code tying it to specific budgets/spending bills in order to be useful.
AI is great, but it has no real value if the underlying data isn't where it needs to be. It will probably take the concerted effort of several more years to get it close.
Quite simply, there's no more need for AI or Elon's vast knowledge currently. They shut down some big programs, but mass fraud is better targeted inside each individual organization itself. We'll find some faulty payments, etc, but not on a grand scale that a regular audit wouldn't catch.
Edit - also the fact that there's just so much that is still paper-based stored inside a mountain. That blew Elon's mind but any government contractor would tell you that's been a problem for decades.
I've seen AI. It would depend on what they fed into it, and the weighting coefficients. Both are extremely subjective.

This has been my biggest criticism of the 4D chess argument. Rather than just simply accepting a small loss, accepting a change of strategy, or outright admitting someone sucks, instead expectations get rolled into a bigger and bigger ball of hopium that no president can possibly meet. It actually makes things harder for Trump because he has to both succeed and succeed in a way that overcomes peoples sunk cost fallacy.
Im not gonna make Trump succeed and have Kash turn into a competent FBI director in order to feel happy. I'd rather just get a new director and be on with it.

I think it's neither. I think he's just not suited for the pressures of the job. Additional investigation beyond the lone wolf theory requires time, patience and a willingness to not accept simplicity as an easy out. I'm not sure if he's prepared to do a great job, rather than settle on doing an ok job that doesn't invite scrutiny.
Kash wants us to believe that literally everyone is a lone wolf actor if it involves a high profile death or assassination attempt. Even Epstein supposedly killed himself according to him. This is nothing more than lazy investigation. Trump and Charlie deserve better.
