Israel was given 490 years to end their rebeliion against God, as prophesied by Daniel before their release from Babylonian captivity and rebuilding the second temple.

The confusion comes when people interpret Daniel 9:27 as referring to the Antichrist. This verse actually refers to Jesus's earthly ministry.

Many Israelites became his disciples and many more were converted after the crucifixion.

The veil of the temple was torn in two pieces signifying the end of the sacrifices and oblations. The saints who were risen from the dead were the firstfruits of the New Covenant.
How many pastors have you heard give sermons about the saints who rose the dead after the Resurrection?

Jesus prophesied the complete destruction of the second temple, confirming this judgment.
He mentions this 490 year prophecy as a parable.

In 70 A.D., the temple was burned down by the Roman soldiers and they tore what remained completely apart to get the gold and silver that melted, thus fulfilling the prophecy.
Jerusalem was totally destroyed and as Jesus had predicted - not one stone was left upon another. When the Temple was set on fire the Roman soldiers tore apart the stone to get the melted gold. The Menorah and vessels were carried to Rome and the treasury was robbed.
As Daniel had predicted the Temple was destroyed after the Messiah had come, not before.

The 490 year prophecy ended 3.5 years after Messiah's death, when the high priest ordered Stephen to be stoned to death for preaching the Gospel message.
There's a reason Saul was there to witness Stephen's death, and after his conversion, he was renamed as Paul and appointed Apostle to the Gentiles.
As Paul himself explains in the book of Romans, the natural branch (Israel) was cut off, but the Jews are able to be grafted back in IF they accept Jesus as Messiah.
