My mom had terrible pains in her legs all night from her 1st shot. She cares for my 100 year old grandmother, who also got the shot. I flat out told her I was going to be frightened when they got their 2nd shots. She won’t listen. (Why does a 100 year old lady who is home bound with exposure to only 3 people need to be taken OUT of the home for a vaccine of any kind??) ☹️
I’m in the Bible Belt too, and while there are plenty of freedom loving people, the “shame on you for not caring about grandparents/teachers” voices can still get pretty loud.
And it makes sense, because authoritarians are going to authoritate ? while “quietly leave me alone to do my thing” people are going to quietly do their thing.
I think it's the opposite. She will still distance herself from his EOs that got the most heat. Not because she cares, but to deflect right wing criticism. But in the meantime, we're all conditioned to accept her when it's time.
I hate crowds, and I'm naturally purse-clutching and cautious. Jan 6 was such a safe and comfortable vibe. I've truly never been in such a peaceful crowd. People just left their stuff on the lawn or the sidewalk (at the National Mall) and came back for it later. It was honestly shocking how calm and happy everyone was...until word started coming back about what was happening in the Capitol.
His wife's accident was exactly that. Biden once accused the truck driver of "drinking his lunch," but that was patently false. He jumped out to help the family, was cleared of any fault at the scene, and resumed his truck-driving career. His daughter said he was never the same, though, and is thankful that he wasn't alive to hear Biden smear him (one time, years later, in a sympathy ploy).
The cites the Superme Court case “NYT vs Sullivan” to defend her freedom to make “wild accusations.” “Coincidentally,” this is the same case that a federal judge pushed back on last week, saying that it gives too much ability for the press/media to slant the news. ? https://www-politico-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.politico.com/amp/news/2021/03/19/defamation-law-media-protection-477193?amp_js_v=a6&_gsa=1#referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&_tf=From%20%251%24s&share=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.politico.com%2Fnews%2F2021%2F03%2F19%2Fdefamation-law-media-protection-477193
She did not say no reasonable person would believe her. She said they wouldn't take it as a statement of fact. As in - she isn't the expert, she was presenting information from witnesses. While she also says she believes it to be true, she also says it needed to be tested in the courts before being taken as truth.
What a good reminder for everyone. I'm looking at you, rioters.
If they hold her responsible for what she cites from sources, then what sort of accountability might that give to politicians and pundits who breathlessly repeat as fact what they hear from sources?
Well, Covid yes, strangely. But I'd say that has to do with false positives, as much as anything.
But the OP seems to be talking about routine childhood vaccines, and that's not a phenomenon with seen with measles, mumps, chicken pox, Hep B (!!) etc.
Yes. I had no idea, until years ago I was in Europe. Met a couple of international students from Africa who asked where I was from. "Oh, a small town near...well, you've probably never heard of the nearest city, but it's called Charlotte." And these got SO excited, going on about the Charlotte Hornets. Who knew?
Thanks for the part about thinking before biting heads. I just had an imaginary argument in my head ?with a family member about why they continue to vote for people who send trillions in aid overseas, chaining their grandchildren down as tax slaves for generations. And I know I can’t even have that real discussion because they’re so inundated with “compassion” and “greater good” messaging. So I’m feeling a little despair, and understand others who do for their own reasons,
