I don’t think that’s why, but I truly hope I’m wrong.

I like to imagine that Trump’s people met with the Russian, Saudi, Chinese and other leaders, told them the plan, and assured them that Trump would either work to make everyone’s countries great again or he’d die trying. Either way, they were convinced to withhold election money and cheating help and just let the election play out.

Somewhere along the line, China got convinced to switch sides and “release the virus”. Either that, or it was always part of the plan.
