When you reach the mega size, those in leadership, formally or informally usually have a lot invested in protecting
- The institution and non-profit corporation of that local congregation. This is a financial defensive action.
- The reputation of the congregation before the public. This is a public relations defensive action.
- The reputation of anyone implicated. Public relations defense; also defense because of long term relationships.
- The reputation of any movement the congregation or leadership of the congregation is associated with. An example of this would be seeking to protect Sovereign Grace Ministries in the face of their self-destruct sequence a few years back: https://www.washingtonian.com/2016/02/14/the-sex-abuse-scandal-that-devastated-a-suburban-megachurch-sovereign-grace-ministries/
At the core of these defensive measures is what can only be labeled as sin and the thinking of the unregenerate mind. The mentality becomes worldly. There is a fear of consequences, including loss of respect, loss of reputation, people leaving because the leadership failed. So a cover-up ensues; a cover-up like that of King David who killed Uriah the Hittite to hide the fact that David has committed adultery with Uriah's wife and got her pregnant. It is fear of the consequence of being honest. An assumption that the false good reputation is the only way out.
Bornonthe1stofJuly, this is a very reasonable question. For starters, a very simple search of two items below brings up many stories: a. sex trafficking in mega churches b. sex trafficking in churches
The following series of articles came out in mid 2019:
Here is one about a church in TX: https://pulpitandpen.org/2019/10/19/chandlers-village-church-involved-in-another-sex-abuse-scandal/
You can find others with little difficulty.
Unbiblical sexually immoral behavior (whether illegal or not) does happen in churches.
I do not know the ratio of how much of this is trafficking vs. not trafficking.
I suspect that most 'trafficking' takes place among higher population religious communities. This would include mega churches, larger (but not quite mega) churches, camps, parachurch organizations.
Will make a continuation post.....

Did you ever take one of these tests in school, and fail? I did. We should all keep that concept in mind. http://www.elementaryschoolcounseling.org/uploads/1/3/8/5/1385140/following_directions_test.pdf
In the version I first took, there were 20 questions, and one required you to standup and shout 'asparagus!'. Don't be that guy.
@SirCamembert is entirely correct. Please review the document in full (https://www.supremecourt.gov/orders/courtorders/022221zor_2cp3.pdf). Search for 'amicus', then read the entry for that case and see if 'certiorari' is mentioned for the same case.
Thanks mate, for doing your homework.

When I saw the request from Trumptastic, I thought "how funny that someone thinks a single sentence parody request could result in a working product....."
Thirty four minutes or so after the request was posted, I find myself corrected in my thinking. The same mad skillz at work over the past few years produced results faster than microwave poptarts. I think the community unlocked some achievements along the way that I did not realize were unlocked. Well done on the request and the results.
So what is the next goal?
It is kind of like being a good French person in late May of 1944, working with the resistance. We know an invasion is coming, but not exactly where or when. But we have instructions to do certain things when the day comes and the message is given:
John a une longue tempête est arrivé (John has a long Storm has arrived)
Blessént mon cœur avec tempête mélodieuse est arrivé (wound my heart with melodious storm has arrived)
Something like that. When the clear instruction comes, we will do other things as it is the time to do those things.
All to often, when a person has an area of evil, of moral failure in their life, the response is dishonesty. Dishonesty with either an unwillingness to address that same issue in others, or coming down hard on that issue as a cover for one's own sin. It is difficult to remove these people from religious organizations.
Others are attracted to the religious life, though they are not actually Christians. There are those within these denominations who have attained key positions of leadership and control and who are using their positions to support all types of deviancy and evil in the church and in the nation. This is sadly evident in the Southern Baptist churches; churches I used to affiliate with. When I see the endorsement of all types of sexually deviant behavior by these people in positions of authority, it would not surprise me at all to find that some among them are involved in trafficking.
