Read Scott Hahn's story. He was a Presbyterian Minister (Doctor of Theology, IIRC) who started tugging at some inconsistencies between the teachings of different Christian denominations regarding contraception. He spent years trying to prove his thesis that the Catholic faith was corrupt and in error. In the end, he couldn't and wound up converting and becoming a major Catholic author and apologist. The book of his conversion is called Rome Sweet Home.
