If the Powers that Be can't kill you outright, the next best thing they can do is make you perpetually miserable. The best way to fight this is to be happy no matter what. Be happy in spite of how shitty things are.
None of us can change anything on a macro scale so just focus on what you can do. You can be happy. Keep reading the Bible, keep doing your favorite hobbies, no matter what. They can't stop you without killing you. And they aren't strong enough to kill you.
