The plane with the tail number 28000 has been making several maintenance flights lately. 29000 is in Albuquerque and is having the communications updated (per military.com) so he took a 757 from the SAM fleet to make a 10 minute flight from Andrews AFB to Wilmington, DE. He probably could have asked the Marines to take him and he would get there in the same amount of time.
AF1 is probably the best maintained airplane in the world.
I know of mechanics that tried out for duty wrenching on it.

I work in military aircraft rework and can tell you that turn around time is months....where I work takes care of the presidential helicopters. It's tuoidnto say that the plane "just happens to be in maintenance." so you know what goes into an aircraft? It's not a car you just change the oil in 30 minutes and you're done.

The timing is questionable. They also have two jets: a sam-28000 as the primary and a backup which is a sam-29000.
Both are painted in US colors and markings. The fact that both are down makes Biden using anything else stinks like a rotting corpse.
