Separation of Church and State means no State sponsored or mandated religion. Nothing more, nothing less. Anything beyond that on either side {BY THE Government ]is unconstitutional. People need to get through their heads what the Constitution says and what it was written FOR.
If you link "Church and state" you end up with whoever controls the church and state dictating to everyone else how to believe. Never ends well
How do we decouple the state from the cult of medicalism... this covid-hoax has involved a shit ton of dictating what to believe on everyone.
Just more evidence that if you remove one religion, people will develope another to take its place. "Masks work." The new statement of faith.
Exactly. This should be a pinned post on it's own.
People on Gab are bitching about The inbound DJT / Lindell platform. They know that millions will relocate there.
No reason people can't be on both. Gab has at least once before been deplatformed from servers or something like that, and last I heard, still can't get a simple checking account. Not their fault, but I think Trump and Lindell are trying to avoid depending on other entities.
Imagine if he replaced "Christianity" with "Islam" or "Judaism".
This isn't an attack on Christianity or anything, but this zealous nature does not have a place in a free country. There's a reason why there's a separation of church and state. Christianity objectively has a history of violence just as much as any other religion. People were stoned and burned alive in the name of Christianity. The founding fathers knew this, and regardless of their religious views, they established this separation in the very first amendment.
Gab is alienating everyone who doesn't abide by it's owners views, and that's not something I can back any more. Wonder if Andrews zealous nature is a reason why Trump won't officially join Gab.
Yes, exactly.
I have nothing against any religion (to each it’s own) - but the christian religions doesn’t do the best at promoting love and kindness. Each denomination thinks its version is correct; all the others are deceived by the devil and will go to hell with everyone else who don’t believe as they do.
Eternity... suffering in a fiery hell. Who could even think of such evil?
This is why I believe in individual spirituality but not organized religion. If you want to follow a certain book go right ahead but I draw the line at trying to push others into it as well.
Same here! Religions are simply systems of control created to deceive.
My mom, a local christian ‘celebrity’ with a mass of followers hasn’t accepted me since I was 14 - just because I refused to believe that Jesus is god. She can’t stand me (won’t even attend family events if I’m attending), but says she loves me. Talk about conditional love! Lol
It’s unfortunate people don’t see how religion creates division. Religion has nothing to do with spirituality or one’s belief in god.
Maybe Jesus isn't God, but Jesus certainly claimed to be God. It's a historical fact that he was executed for sedition by Pontius Pilate during the reign of Tiberius Caesar. That is, he claimed to be king.
"Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews" was on the sign above his cross, and a polemic was recorded between Pilate and Jews who complained about the sign. The crown of thorns, the purple cloak, the reed in his hand, the soldiers bowing down mockingly saying "Hail King of the Jews", it all corroborates the fact that Jesus was executed for making messianic claims.
He made these claims in open court...
A few weeks later, thousands worshiped him as God in the same city where he was executed and buried, with his tomb empty and hundreds claiming they had seen him back from the dead.
Actually Jesus never claimed to be god ?
The passage you quoted is one that christians tend to ignore because he answered affirmative to being a messiah - NOT god! According to the gospels, Jesus said that he’d be with the people until the end of the age (Pisces). He even taught that Moses was also a messenger of god - Moses was the messiah in the age of Aries; he led people out of the age of Taurus (recall they were still worshiping the golden calf). When asked by his disciples about the next passover (transition to a new age), Jesus said that we’ll know when we ‘see’ the water bearer (Aquarius). It makes sense why in the creation story in Genesis, god told us to use the stars as signs. If we look up into the night sky, we can literally ‘see’ these signs. There’s much more than that, but this should give you a starting point to seek further knowledge.
Also, Jesus was accused of blasphemy because he taught that god is within all of us, reminding the people that even their scripture said ‘ye are gods.’ Another point christians don’t want to discuss. The argument I hear is that the Old Testament/covenant was superseded by the new testament. Of course, I don’t understand how that conclusion is reached because Jesus said that he came to fulfill the scriptures - not to destroy it. He even warned them not to change a damn thing it their scriptures! LOL Of course people eventually did anyway... driven by good old fashioned politics. Christians know this but this is justified because god uses men ?
Lastly, Jesus didn’t become a ‘deity’ until about 300 years later when Paul (who actually admitted that he tricked people into believing it) claimed that Jesus came to him - it’s where the whole trinity (father, son, holy spirit is one in the same) lie came into existence. This is the foundation of the christian belief system - it’s why Paul is regarded as the father of christianity. Paul’s teachings are completely different from Jesus’ and in most cases, are completely contradictory from Jesus’ teachings.
Research the contradictions from an unbiased, scholarly perspective.
Unfortunately christians seek answers from other christian sources - textbook confirmation bias. And they’re forbidden from studying other ancient religious texts, so only a few come to recognize the deception. The fact of the matter is - it makes no difference which of the ancient religious texts are referenced... at their core - they’re all teaching the same knowledge! The stories are simply told so that they makes sense to the people of those times/cultures. The only religious text that deviates from all the others are the teachings from the books of Paul’s school of thought (almost all of the New Testament books). Learn recommend you for yourself - christianity prevents us from experiencing god. If they’d listen to Jesus’ teachings instead of Paul’s - they’ll learn about the Tree of Life, they’d understand that we’re not given a soul/spirit, we actually are living souls (spiritual beings, just like it says in Genesis! They pick and choose specific passages from the gospels that to them, confirms Paul’s teachings, giving little weight or completely ignoring those that will lead them to the truth about who they are. Jesus taught to “know thyself” for a reason
"Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Living God?"
"I AM, and you will see the Son of Man standing by the Power and coming on the clouds of heaven."
-- I AM is the "tetragrammaton" or the unpronounceable name of God that was revealed to Moses at the burning bush. (Apparently in anticipation of Jesus' upcoming trial...)
-- "The Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven" is a reference to a prophecy in Daniel about a Son of Man who would be worshipped by all people.
-- "Blasphemy" the high priest recognizes Christ's claim to be God by calling the claim "blasphemy". Why else have a death penalty?
There are plenty of other examples of Christ's claiming to be God. For example, his claim to have the authority to forgive sins. As well him referring to himself as the "Lord."
The first amendment says:
As with most things, the more you learn about this topic, the more you realize that you don't know. This is an interesting article on what the framers exactly meant by "establishment of religion.":
https://www.encyclopedia.com/politics/encyclopedias-almanacs-transcripts-and-maps/establishment-religion
It explains that in the countries early history, multiple states did respect an "establishment of religion," but that the federal government was prohibited. Many states had taxes that went towards funding a church, but in many cases the individual could choose which Church got the money.
An interesting note- at that time all of these churches and establishments were Christian. I do wonder if the framers would have liked/been okay with all of these different religious groups in the USA. I wish they were here to give us direction today.
Hmmm... let’s see:
Translation: They cannot put into place any LAW that will:
a) Force us to prescribe to any particular religion - to include those of the christian faith b) Prevent us from practicing any religion we choose to follow, if any at all
Seems to me they were definitely okay with there being different religious groups in the US. As you pointed out - it is the very FIRST Amendment! I’m sure they were well aware of christianity’s past; during the time people were forced to worship it.
No matter how many complaints we have, Gab is the only real free speech platform there is. Its rough around the edges but its needed.
At this rate, you soon won't be able to criticize Christianity on Gab.
I don't want government telling me how to worship, nor do they hold the right to. God created America for freedom to worship him how we choose. We all have a choice. Let people believe what they want. No person is perfect and religions are run by people, so Expect imperfections. Judge religions yourself by their fruits.... Good or bad. Do you feel better changing your heart and turning to God? Great. Everyone is on their own journey and we are all learning. He loves all his children...yes, even them?. Strive to be kind, learn of Christ and try to be like him, love God and your set. So many wonderful people come from many different religions.... The name assigned doesn't automatically make you good or better. It's all about your heart.
Was this written by Milo or Andrew? Sorry, I’m not on Gab.
There do have to be bare minimums when it comes to making what some would consider Christian values into law. We cannot allow parents to transition their five year olds by the millions and call it okay because conservative parents are allowed to say no.
"Separation of church and state" is a modern creation meant to separate the state from the moral demands of God.
The original goal was to protect the church from the state, not to protect the state from the church.
What's wrong with that statement? Don't tell me you've bought into the lie of "separation of church and state"? I keep hearing people saying that but most don't know where it came from. It was first used in court in the US in the 1960s. It's no where in the United States Constitution. But....it was in the constitution of the former Soviet Union. In Article 13 of the general provisions of the constitution of the USSR, adopted in July 1918, it states, “In order to ensure genuine freedom of conscience for the working people, the church is separated from the State, and the school from the church: and freedom of religious and anti-religious propaganda is recognized for all citizens.”
What's wrong is that the state shouldn't be able to dictate a person's belief system. You can't force a person to believe in a particular religion. If you do, then it's only a show, not a heartfelt connection to a higher being.
Where does the state dictate anyone's belief system? Has the state ever tried to force you to believe in a particular higher power? No that would be Islam, a theocracy. Think Sharia law or the Church of England when we fought for independence. That's why the constitution forbid the state from making laws respecting a religion. We were formed as a Judo-Christian country but the founders knew not to give the state the power to enforce a religion. That's far different from "separation of church and state". Like I said you can find that term in the old Soviet Constitution and in the The Communist Manifesto.
The 1st Amendment explicitly states: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. It's pretty simple, doesn't take a lawyer to understand. The state can't promote (respect) one religion over another. The colonies had just freed themselves from England which was a theocracy.
"It is true that the phrase "separation of church and state" does not actually appear anywhere in the Constitution of the United States. There is a problem, however, in that some people draw incorrect conclusions from this fact. The absence of this phrase does not mean that it is an invalid concept or that it cannot be used as a legal or judicial principle."
